Sweaty Feet - Tucson,AZ
My 4 year old has naturally hot feet and whenever he wears sandals his feet get really sweaty and somewhat stinky. We clean his feet daily, but was wondering if anyone knew of any tricks of keeping his feet dry. We've tried baby powder, but it makes his feet really slippery in the sandals. Any ideas?

MY brother had the nastiest feet ever when we were little the doctors told my mom to spray them every morning with aerosol deodorant (he used arid) it worked great. His feet were so bad the would peel & other nasty stuff. This was the only thing to clear it up.

Hi M. this is such a pain. My son who is autistic will not wear shoes because his feet can not breathe and will not wear any socks at all either LOL a thing with him so summer or winter he is in sandals and we get that stinky sweaty feet all the time. Last year when it started we washed his feet in tea tree oil water and then bought some of the odor eater things and cut them down to fit in his sandals, now they do not smell and I can put powder in if i like and he says they keep his feet soft because of the inserts. The only caution i have is to check them every week that they are not slipping off we almost had a really bad fall when one came lose and got stuck in a car door (long story LOL). Good luck.

My sister had that when we were young and the Dr had her put the clinical strength anti perspirent on her feet and hands. I would talk to your Dr before you just do it though.

I use Earth Therapeutics Tea Tree Oil Foot Spray. I bought it at Ulta Salon..only place I've seen it at so far. It's also good to keep away Mosquitos too. Don't spray it anywhere except the feet tho..(from experience it could irritate).
Otherwise try Dr. Scholls products. But you might have to check with his pediatrician. An old boss of mine had diabetes and was constantly sweaty too and had to carry spray deodorant with him so it could be a insulin issue.

My husband has this same problem and we have used Gold Bond Body Powder, which is available from most grocery and discount stores. Sprinkle on the shoes after use. But really, the only way you may avoid this problem is to buy quality shoes for your son, not cheap sandals made from synthetic materials.

I read an article in some women's magazine several years ago about stinky feet and sandals. They recommended using deodorant on the soles of your feet. I went and got a cheap solid in a scent that I like and used that! Worked for me.
