I know, all babies feet smell, its cute... its funny, but seriously, my toddler's feet smell pretty bad. Its not even funny anymore. I can't even play the stinky feet game with him. His feet smell like a grown-ups feet would . I recently bought him sandals , because i thought the old ones were the problem, i went and got specific to help him not sweat or to soak up the sweat antibacterial washable sandals to help him and its not. I bathe him daily. My husband has bad odor as well, he sweats too much that he must wear socks all the time sometimes change his socks twice a day. Is it possible that my son might have the same problem, excessive sweat?? Should i mention this to his DR? what shall I do? I've tried baby powder and nothing. At home he's barefooted, and even still, his feet sweat, shoes or no shoes

What can I do next?

I have heard a strange remedey for this. ( From Dr. OZ ) use tea bags in warm water, soak feet and it should take care of it. Baking soda in the shoes. I think it is the cheap shoes that cause the smell.

Have your husband soak his feet in vinegar.. it totally helps.. Not sure if you can get your baby to soak his feet.. Has your husband mentioned his problem to his doctor? There are treatments for excessive sweating of the feet and or hands..

For your baby, do mention it to the Dr. just so they can note it..

I would mention it to the doctor at the next visit.

When wearing enclosed shoes (like sneakers) be sure to wear cotton socks.

Give the shoes a chance to breath. Do not wear the same shoes everyday.

My daughter's feet were so stinky last summer! We asked her pediatrician and she suggested using deodorant on her feet. We bought some Tom's all-natural deodorant and used it on freshly wiped feet every morning, after nap and before putting her socks on at bedtime. It helped a lot! I also washed her shoes weekly. This summer, she's wearing more open sandals, Crocs and flip-flops and they don't smell anywhere close to what they did. Hopefully yours will outgrow the stinky feet also!

IME, it's synthetic materials that cause feet to smell....are his shoes leather? Sometimes the fake leather makes feet smell SO bad.....
I'd mention it to the pediatrician.
Have you tried a medicated foot powder? How old is he?

It generally isn't sweating that causes the smell it is something retaining the sweat and well, dead skin. That is why Crocs are known for causing the most smelly feet on earth.

If nothing is keeping the sweat from drying and retaining all the ick that causes the stink I have no idea what is happening.

hhhhmmmm...my boys didn't start having smelly feet until they were in school....

I would talk to the pediatrician at your next visit, I wouldn't make a special appointment for it - but i would DEFINITELY bring it up...I wonder if WebMD has any information on it...??

GOOD LUCK!!

You might try rubbing her feet with one of those natural mineral deodorants. You just put a little water on it and then rub it on like a stick.

You can also wash her feet with a 10:1 solution of hydrogen peroxide and water. That would be something like 1 Tablespoon of peroxide in 2/3 cup of warm water. Just rinse her feet with the solution and then dry them well.

You can also spray her shoes everyday with some rubbing alcohol. That's what my manicurist suggests. BTW - that would work for your hubby's feet too)

You have some good tips here, but I had a thought. I know that underarm odor is caused by bacteria of course and I always wash my underarms specifically with antibacterial soap, which helps. Are you using that on his feet every day or baby soap? You might give it a try.

Although, if his feet are having this issue even barefoot around the house, I'd tend to think it might be hereditary...sorry!

So even being barefoot at home does not help?

Ask the Doc.

We are going through this with my 5 yo too. He has always had stinky, sweaty feet, with our without socks. My hubby's family all seem to have a sweat issue. And the antimicrobial sandals did nothing too help. What makes it even worse is when he puts his shoes on after swimming at camp and doesn't dry them off properly first. I have tried everything from foot powder to washing shoes out to no avail. I am going to try the deodorant trick someone mentioned.
