Stubborn Grease

When it comes to cleaning my white stove I cant seem to get rid of the dusty grease that kind of solidifies into fat. I have tried every product that I can think of but none of them work. Is there anyone else who has this problem or knows of a product that will do the job?? Help!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I tried the vinegar and it worked wonders. Shortly after I tried this I saw it on the Rachael Ray show. Thank you all for your suggestions. :o)

Go get a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. All you need is water and I haven't seen anything yet that it can't clean perfectly.

I bought a container of the orange wipes at the Dollar Tree in Easton and they work GREAT! I've never seen anything work as well as them on the grease on my stove. I bought them in the dispensing container as well as a resealable package...both of them worked well. I believe you get 35 wipes for a buck!!!! Good luck!

Girl, I had this same problem! Try using some Bleach. I did this one day and it made the stove look like new. Maybe a cap or two of bleach on a rag with a couple of splashes of water on the rag. Just wear gloves or your hands will smell like bleach. The other suggestions all sound great, too, but you may already have some bleach in the house. Good luck!

I would LOVE to introduce you all to a company that makes INCREDIBLE cleaning products that work as well or better than those you find at the store. Not only are they very effective at cleaning all kinds of things, they are also all natural. Do you ever notice as you walk down the isle in the grocery store w/ all the cleaning products that the smell is sometimes overpowering? It's called "outgassing," meaning the chemicals in those sealed bottles are actually seeping thru the plastic. Mix too many of them, especially in your home where it's closer quarters, and they can form toxic gasses. Dawn dishwashing liquid stands out particullarly because if it is accidentlly ingested by a child, the effects are irreversable and possibly deadly. Just think of the residue that is left on your dishes after you wash them. I ran out of my natural stuff one time recently and tried to find the most gentle liquid. I bought IVORY thinking "the commercial says 99.99% pure" for the soap, anyway. Well I could actually taste the stuff in my food!!! I immediately called and had more of the natural stuff shipped overnight! Please, ladies, I'm not trying to "sell" you anything, just inform you of the dangers of chemicals. You can visit the website at "www.melaleuca.com" or email me at ____@____.com. Believe me, I wouldn't live without it.

have you tried GREASED LIGHTNING? it comes in a spray bottle in the cleaning aisle. the bottle is white with black and yellow detail. it works AWESOME! on some things, too well. you can use it on your stove or sink. NEVER use it on your walls or any contact paper. it will strip the paint right off. it will take the design out of contact paper. but if you have grease on stoves, fridge, tile, sink... this is the stuff!

Plain ole vinegar works pretty good on most things. Just spray it on, let it sit for awhile and wipe it off with paper towels.

Try Barkeepers' Friend- it's in the supermarket near the Comet scrub. It takes rust off everything (that's its claim to fame) but it doesn't scratch anything and it works on EVERYTHING. I'm a new woman since I found that stuff- MUCH HAPPIER now that things are easier to clean! Good luck!

Two words....GREASED LIGHTNING!!! The stuff will work on anything. Just make sure you keep it off the walls and any wood surface. When we moved into our house there was a film on the linoleum and I tried everything. GL took it right off. Saved me a fortune on a new floor. You can get it at the Dollor Store for $3.00.

I just recently discovered the power of Borax!! 20 mule team , its an old household helper and I have been using it for almost everything from cleaning my toilet to grease to taming my cat litter's smell... make either a solution of it about half cup to cup of water, and wipe wherever, or make a paste solution. Its natural and does good, but wear gloves, it can dry your skin out.

Hi M., I have a very old Chambers stove from the 60's or 70's. It's stainless steel and that is the worst thing to try to get off. I use Dawn Power Dissolver. It works great. you may have to use it twice but you don't have to scrub at all. I let mine sit for about 15-20 minutes. Hope this helps.
