You can try tanning. My friend said it helped her. My son is 8 months old and mine have faded dramatically. Good luck!

Hi S.,

Here's a link:
http://www.getridofthings.com/get-rid-of-stretch-marks.htm

They suggest:
Alpha Hydroxy Acid, Retinoids, and Salicylic acid.

I can't vouch for any of this because I've never tried them. I'm pretty sure that cocoa butter won't help. It's true that the marks will fade over time.

Congratulations on the birth of your son. And also for being in school to become an RN.

Blessings,
K.

I second Mederma. I had breast reduction surgery 2-1/2 years ago. The scars were pretty extensive, and I was 45 years old at the time. At my age, the scars weren't the main focus for me. I just wanted that weight of my large breasts off my shoulders and back. But, when the scars healed closed, I started using Mederma at the recommendation of my plastic surgeon. I was amazed! The scars faded quickly, and about a year after the surgery, they were nearly invisible, except at certain points where drains were inserted or where two scars intersected. I was so impressed that I started applying Mederma to my old stretch marks. At the time, my "babies" were 16 and 18 years old! The stretch marks had faded to white, but they were visible. Even on the old scars, Mederma helped. The scars aren't gone completely, and of course they never will be, but there was very visible improvement. I know I sound like a commercial, but I swear by Mederma now. It certainly worked for me.

add lots of vit. a into your diet. not a supplemental as it is toxic to the liver.

yellows and oranges, oj, veg juice, lots of foods with A will help organs and your skin is the largest organ on your body.
I have had a total colectomy and ostomy and I have been opened in the same 7+" Scar a couple of times. My surgeon suggested all the A I could handle and my scar has healed beautifully in comparison to some.

Also removing toxins form the diet will be helpful the the stores under the skin much like cellulite and help the overall skin heal and even out as well.

wondering if you have looked up any homeopathic remedies to stretch marks. I bet there are a few time tested ones.

Good luck.

Hey S.,

Unfortunately stretch marks don't fully disappear (without some sort of laser surgery). They will fade or turn flesh color but they won't completely go away. It's easier to prevent stretch marks with cocoa butter while you are pregnant then get rid of them after the baby has been born.
I have had two babies and with the first pregnancy I was religious about putting cocoa butter on and I didn't get one stretch mark and I gained 55 pounds. My second pregnancy I was lazier and didn't put it on nearly as much. I gained 45 pounds and I got stretch marks that faded but are still there.

Hope that helps.

Sorry I don't care what anyone says there is nothing you can do. I gained nearly 60 lbs with my first & no stretch marks, gained nearly 50 with my 2nd & the stretchmarks are here to stay! I did do the cocoa butter while pregnant with both & after- I think that just softens the skin nothing more. Your baby is only 5 months I think your stretchmarks will fade some over time, just be patient with yourself!! My youngest is 14 months & I'm still waiting...LOL!!
Good luck to you & if you find that miracle cream/ treatment let me know!!!

S., Quit worrying about them. First of all they are a badge of motherhood...not something that is ugly and scar-like. Part of having a child is stretchmarks and NOTHING is going to make them go completely away! Time and taking care of your skin will help them fade. So quit wasting your money, consintrate on your studies and your beautiful baby boy! Best wishes!

Well the stretch marks themselves are there to stay. But you can fade away the dark color. Mederma worked for me, it's an OTC scar cream that you can pick up anywhere that sells lotion, etc. like the grocery store. Good luck!

It took nine months for you to get them it'll take at least that or more to make them disaper or at least lighten. Sometimes they won't go away. The creams and butters out there don't work. Give it time they will fade so they are barely notacible.

stri-vecta works but you need to do it twice a day. The cost is about $100.00 a tube but the tube is big.
good luck

It hasn't been long, hang in there. My stretch marks were very visible until my son was almost a year. Now he's one, and you can't see them at all. they are there, but they are white and no longer puckered. it just took time, I didn't use any products. Good Luck!
