Stain Removal

Hi K.,
I am the queen of stain removal! I HATE stains & have kept a family of 4 stain free. What I use is Woolite Oxy Deep Carpet Cleaner on our clothes. I spray it on & let it dry for a day or 2, & then respray it if I see it needs it. Almost ALWAYS stains are out. If not I will respray again, let it sit & then launder, & hang dry. This has always worked for me & I hope it works for your family as well! PS- Spaghetti sauce, red wine, ketchup, EVEN mildew & oil dried on stains will come out of your clothes. Just don't put it in the dryer till you're sure the stain is out :)

Hi K., I use a couple of products. One is Sol-U-Mel and the other is Prespot. I am not sure if you've ever heard of Melaleuca before but this is where I buy these items. The sol-U-Mel is to used undiluted to help remove stains. These products have worked for me. I am actually an Independent Consultant for the company and I am in no way trying to convince you to be a customer, I just wanted you to know what works for me. Someone else has mentioned PreSpot and I recommend it also!! It is great with all stains! I found an old stain on my mothers old dress and tried PreSpot! It was gone! I love this stuff. I have a little one and I know that it is much safer!!

hi K.. not that this works 100% of the time, but i have found that if i put dawn dish soap on stains, and let it sit quite awhile, then wash with tide w/bleach. most comes out.

good luck. laundry can be so frustrating at times! LOL

I'd be careful using a lot of these products that are listed in the responses. While they may get the stain out, most of them are full of toxic chemicals that can be harmful to you and your family. What goes on your clothes can get absorbed into your skin and directly into your bloodstream damaging kidney, liver, etc. There are safer, less expensive alternatives out there but you have to know where to go. Believe it or not but Fantastic spray gets out weird stains in clothes. I spray it on and let it set for about a half hour and wash as usual. Try it! I havent tried on baby food stains yet.

Whenever I have tough stains I can`t remove I simply reach for a bottle of shampoo(anyone will do.I simply wet the stain with lots of cold water and pour some shampoo directly on the stain.I then rub it between my fingers for a few minutes and then rinse with cold water. I repeat it several times if neccesary. I have even taken clothes out of the dryer and tried this method. I have also used liquid handsoap. I espescially used the handsoap on formula stains and baby clothes. It worked. I never had any stained baby clothes.

i know on white clothes and light colors if you mix baking soda with a little water to make a paste it will take anything out! be careful on darker colors though it might bleach it, i haven't tried it on them yet!

What I do for those stains is I use Shout, there are different versions, but i have found the gel one works best, but I put a good amount on the stain to soak in, then I ball it up, and let is sit over night, then when i wash it, i add a squirt of dawn to the washer with the other detergent. most all stains have come out that way, especially the orange ones as they are my son's favorite.

What is the source of the orange stains? Different types of foods, chemicals may need different approaches. Are we talking squash, carrots, sweet potatoes?

Greased lightening, spray on, let it sit overnight and wash. Takes most everything out even once it's been in the dryer. Good luck

I, too, fancy myself as a laundry queen - ha ha! On tough stains I use Cascade crystals (not liquid) dishwasher detergent. Wet the area, and pour some Cascade crystals on it. Let it soak for a while, then rub it out with a soft brush or fingertip or by rubbing the fabric together. It works wonders on all kinds of stains.

Oh - if it's tomato-based, you can also try lemon juice and sun. Wet the area with lemon juice, and sit the item out in the sun for a few hours. The stain will disappear.

I had the same problem until I purchase one of the Tide instant stain removers. I carry it everywhere. It doesn't always take the stain out like on T.V. (meaning instantly) but it does stop the stain from setting in. I have not had any problem with any stains since! Hope it helps you too.

I use Dreft stain removal..you can get it mostly anywhere....My dad is a drycleaner and since you have tried something already on it, it might have set the stain. If it is something nice take it to your local drycleaner and they can put on a stain remover that is better than store bought but like i said if it doesnt come out, it is possible that it is set in the cloth. My dads cleaning business is in Ravenna, so if you want to know where email me. Otherwise, try dreft and rub it in with your fingernail like you are trying to get something off a table that has dried, let it set in for at least a half hour before washing. Good luck

I worked in a laundramat and we used a combo of water a squirt of Dawn dish soap and about a 1/2 cup of ammonia. Put in a spray bottle and use an old tooth brush. Spray the stain and then scrub with the brush and then wash..... check before you put in dryer.

Hello! I have had really good luck with Dreft stain remover, I use it on everyones clothes. You can find it at Target next to the baby laundry detergent(I think they have it at Wal-mart too).

Have you tried Prespot? It works wonders! It got fingernail polish out of my daughters suade coat, yet it is safer than the other stain removers out there! Not only is it safer on your clothes it is safer for your children and the environment!!!

I have found that Dawn dish washing liquid works the best. The original formula.

I use Spray & Wash Dual Power. It gets pretty much everything out of our clothes. Also, I used Tide as a detergent & have found that this really helps in boosting whatever stainfighting stuff I use.
