Spider Vein Help!

I am currently pregnant with my fourth, and this one is wreaking havoc on my body! I have some nasty spider veins on my right leg. GROSS! I was at a waterpark over the weekend, and I was super self - concious about it. I'm thinking about possible surgical treatment in the future. Has anyone had this done? What does it entail? What is the general price range? If it's too expensive, I'm thinking of covering them with a tattoo!

Do yoga inversions or just prop your legs up against the wall. This will circulate the blood back to your heart. You can also try taking ginkgo biloba or eating grapefruit, blueberries, etc. You can also try a leg massage with cypress and geranium essential oils (mix in carrier oil such as jojoba or almond first). Make sure your feet are propped up on a stool while using the bathroom so that you don't strain. Straining will cause veins.

You can get rid of this issue naturally and avoid surgery. Your body can do with out the risks and healing process.

There is a grape seed product that uses the whole grape (skin and seed) as well as blueberry, billberry, and ginko. It breaks the blood barrier so it eliminates this problem. It also repairs oxidized cells. It is amazing! We eliminated Fibromyalgia pain with this product (Provex Plus) along with nutritionals and detoxifying our home. Plus we are saving money because we buy everything at wholesale.

The grape seed product would be something to try for 60 days because you have a guarantee for 60 days so you wouldn't be out anything to just try.

I don't sell product, but I educate families on wellness treatments and prevention and refer them to the store that I shop with every month.

I believe that it is a laser treatment that you could get at a clinic that does other laser treatments like hair removal (that's who advertises it around here). I don't know about the cost but usually you can as a first time "patient" get a free consultation. I also have some spider veins in my ankles and legs and would love to get it done, but also don't know enough about it. It should just entail a short visit at the clinic with little pain. Keep us posted!

Also, I've noticed that getting a tan makes them less noticeable.

okay, i admit i dont have all the info here, but my grandmother recently had both of her legs amputated.. she had a stroke a year or two ago she started having problems with poor circulation. i learned that she also had prevously had surgery for vericose veins. She had had some veins removed or something? Which made the bad circulation even worse.. Long story short, she basically wasn't getting any blood to her feet and had to have both legs amputated... I know this is an extreme story and i dunno how much had to do with the stoke vrs the leg surgery.. but i guess my advice would be to really really research it and everything it entails... so that you know what you're getting yourself into and how it can effect you in the future... best of luck!

I had the needle type to make them go away, I think you can also get a laser. I had it done about three years ago, they were so bad it looked like had bruises on the backs of my knees and was asked about it all the time, embarrassing. The doctor used a very fine needle and inserted it into each spot where a bundle of veins were. It hurt a bit but not too much, I've never had a tattoo but I think a tattoo would hurt more. It only took about twenty minutes. I walked away with very large red spots on my legs but within a day or two my veins were gone. I loved it, and will do it again soon. I knew someone who knew someone and it only cost me 50 dollars, I'm not sure what the real cost is. The only problem was that it doesn't prevent new ones from forming, so that is why I'm ready to do it again.

My sister in law just had the surgery done couple months ago. IT was an out patient thing. SHe emailed me pictures and had horible bruises during the healing process, but said her legs look great now. Her insurance coverd hers because hers were bad enough it was considered medical and not cosmetic. Check with your insurance company and see what they will cover. SHe also said she was in some pain for a while afterwards too, during the healing process. Good Luck, W.

I don't know what the rules are for this website, but I used to work for a place that does the laser outpt kind, and they had nothing but WONDERFUL reviews on it. It is ALOT less painful then the surg, and the recovery time was very short. Here is the website: http://stpaulradiology.com/services/

You can call for more info...Good luck!

Hello. 8 years ago I had the saline needle injections done on every vein in my legs. After 75 times of the painful needle going in I gave up counting! It was painful and uncomfortable for a few days. The bruises came afterwards and, lasted a very long time, weeks. My legs looked just as bad one year later and, I would love to do something as well. But, I vowed to never do this treatment again. A medical doctor did perform the procedure and it was covered under insurance. Next time i'd probably opt for laser. Best wishes.

T.,

I had the V-closure procedure after my fourth baby was born. They told me not to have any surgery until I was pretty sure I was done having kids because another pregnancy would undo all the work, so don't bother until you are done having kids.

To be honest, I went to a quack in Arkansas so my experience wasn't the best. But he was the only doctor within a 4 hour drive who could do it, so I didn't have much choice. It REALLY hurt (though it isn't supposed to) and everytime I walked for a couple of weeks I felt like my leg was being stabbed with little knives. (In my defense, I do have a pretty high tolerence for pain. 4 deliveries on Pitocin with no pain meds.)

My vericose veins are still noticible, but not nearly as much as they were and my legs don't hurt as much as before I had surgery. If I had gone to a better doctor I think I would have been really happy with the results. I am not sure how much the surgery cost, I think it was a couple grand. My insurance covered it because it was considered medically necessary due to the pain in my legs.

Good luck,
S.

Hi,

I have the same problem with spider veins covering my legs. I went to a vein specialist and found out I have reflux in both legs (faulty veins). He lasered the vein in my left leg (painless) and then injected the spider veins, as well. This leg looks way better now. I just have to find time to go have the other leg done so I won't feel so self-concious about it. Removing the veins with the reflux is also supposed to prevent future varicose veins. These are out-patient procedures and my insurance covered them both.

I hope this helps. I am from ND and my Doctors name is Dr. Corpus in Minot, ND, in case you want to look him up and read a little more about this.

I was hoping to stop by and get some answers for myself since I have the same problem. My legs age me by about 20 years. I only wear bermuda shorts now since they cover majority of them. I'm pregnant with my 3rd and I really hope they don't get a ton worse than they already are. I will probably be eventually considering surgery too, but only if insurance covers it since I want lasik way worse. Atleast in MN there is only about 4 months of shorts. :)

I went to Dermatology Specialists in Eden Prairie last December and I thought it was pretty reasonable: $200 for both legs, which included injecting a solution in the larger areas, and a follow-up of laser about 2 weeks later. The laser part hurt a bit--like someone snapping a rubber band on your leg multiple times. I was supposed to wear support stockings for a couple of weeks after (during the day), but I couldn't stand them after a couple of days! So I thought maybe I'd wrecked something, but so far so good! There will be red spots for a while, so my Dr. recommends doing this in the winter when it's not short season (though as someone said, our season of shorts seems to be shorter!).
