Sore on 16 Mo Old's Bottom That Won't Go Away After Diaper Rash

My son gets diaper rashes only after he eats certain types of foods. We have tried to pin point it, but haven't been successful yet.

After the last one, he got a sore that looks like a blister that doesn't have dead skin covering it any more. Last night it was even bleeding slightly after his bath.

We have tried extra stength desitin for a week or more and nothing... Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

My daycare put some women's yeast infection cream on with desitin over it during the day and at night we can him a bath a lot more and then covered it with neosporen (sp) and desitin and it is almost gone now.... YEAH!!!

With my experience of working with babies and with my son I have found that when cleaning the desitin off sometime the skin can come off to. I have found that boudreaux butt paste works best, it goes on smooth and comes off clean and works GREAT!!!!

Has he been checked for MRSA. My daughter had bad rashes, and then started getting sores (like small boils) on her bottom. She was given antibiotics more than once as well as perscription cream and they would go away then come back.
Finally the Dr tested for MRSA and that was it. It is treated with severeal antibiotics and we had to make sure to be extremely precise on getting full doses and always on time, but then it was gone and she has not had any since.

You should also have yourself, the dad, and siblings tested. Her Dad had it as well, though I did not. If they aare left untreated it will just keep getting passed back and forth.

PS. After such severe rashes that warrented going to the Dr several times and trying every kiind of cream we found Triple Paste. It cleared up the rashes quickly and prevented from getting new ones that were so bad. It is more expensive but totally worth it.
After we started using the cream she stopped getting the diaper rashes. The sores from MRSA started after that time.

He needs to go to the doctor. It could be a yeast infection, or it could be worse, it could be a staph infection...staph infections have become a lot more common lately. Either way, it will need medication to clear up. Although I would urge you to please take him to the doctor, I will say that Boudreaux's butt paste works a lot better than Desitin in my experience.

I agree with Elizabeth, My 1st thought was get it cultured for MRSA and right away.

Sounds like a yeast infection to me. My dr had me use Lotrimin AF (yes, the med for athlete's foot) on my youngest dd when she would get spots like that. Cleared up within a couple days.

My daughter made a concoction from corn starch and balmex and it practically healed my granddaughters rash overnight
try it, hers was almost bleeding

If he has sores that are bleeding, it's probably terribly painful. I'd take him to the pediatrician (or at least call them). It doesn't sound like a diaper rash. Sometimes kids get yeast infections in their diaper area.
