PLEASE!!! We need help :)
Does anyone know of a good snoring aid to help minimize my husband's snoring? It is really affecting both of us. I am a very light sleeper as it is, but when he starts going, I have a sound machine on, I stick t. paper in my ears, I lay at the opposite end of the bed, and I put a pillow over my head, and nothing helps! I am also pregnant, so once I am awakened, it is soooo hard to get back to sleep. We also have a 3 year old and a 17 month old, so the lack of sleep is really taking a toll as you might imagine. I worry that I won't hear them on their sound monitors if they're crying or something is wrong during the night. At about 3 pm everyday, after a horrible night's sleep and chasing toddlers all day, I feel like I am a ZOMBIE. Plus, one of us eventually goes to sleep in the guest bedroom, and as a married couple, that can make you feel not very connected after a few days.
If anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear them!!
Thank you!

Have you tried getting your husband to talk to his dr? The reason I say that is there might be a way to fix that way. My youngest son could bring down the roof with his snoring. Come to find out his tonsils and adenoid were enlarged and causing him all kinds of issues. We didnt go in for the snoring though. We were actually in to see his dr about nose bleeds and the ENT dr was the one that noticed the other stuff. After surgery my son doesnt snore anymore. It was shocking the difference it has made for him.
So have your husband talk to his dr first. If no solution that way then maybe look into the nose strips or other items they offer like at WalGreens that is suppose to stop snoring.

Hi L.
Others have already suggested your husband be checked medically. I agree. In the meantime, I would suggest earplugs for you. Look in the pharmacy...there are soft foam ones and other styles that should help.

You might want to make sure it's not sleep apnea. I'm not sure if you were implying that it wakes him up too when you said that it affects both of you, but if he is waking up, that might be it. There are treatments that would help (both of you!).

Good luck.

I am a respiratory therapist and assess patients for sleep apnea. He needs to have a sleep study done. This is not a condition that should be covered up by some over the counter sleep aid. It is very serious and could lead to several very serious medical conditions and even death. Don't mess around with this, please get him in to see a doctor as soon as possible and have him get a sleep study. I don't mean to scare you, but I would hate to see you raising your daughters by yourself. Do this for them as well as your husband and yourself.

Oh, that sounds miserable!

There is a homeopathic remedy for snoring. I hope it helps. Look at your local natural foods store, and ask around if you can't find it.

Also, many people stop snoring altogether if they remove dairy from their diets. It's the extra inflammation - and possibly more mucus, too, but I think it's mostly the extra inflammation. If he decreases his sugar intake, that would probably help, too, for the same reason.

Also, my husband stops snoring when I tell him to roll over to his side. Has your husband tried that? It might juts work!

Oh, yes, and there are these little things he can put on his nose - try googling "nose strip snoring" or "stop snoring" and lots of things might come up. There are various devices. I'm sure some work better than others.

But start bringing some Silk or Edensoy or other non-dairy milks into the house, switch out the ice cream with soy ice cream, start finding some cheese substitutes, and see if that helps. One thing you could do, if he's a cheese lover, is find some recipes that *seem* really cheesy, and that might satisfy his craving. Here's one that I like a lot: http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=8295.0 That should be all it takes, if that's the cause.

Good luck!

Your husband needs to see a sleep dr. He is not breathing right. My husband is on a breathing machine when he goes to sleep, or he snores really bad, and even stops breathing. Need to get this checked out! God Bless. B. A.

Sleep disorders are noticed by the spouse first. In fact, this is one of the most recognized symptoms - a spouse that cant' sleep because of snoring. Go to the doctor with him and insist that he get a sleep study. Sleep apnea is very h*** o* the heart and can eventually cause heart attacks. It's serious.

He would go into the sleep lab in the evening, be hooked up to a lot of machines and sleep. When I did it, they found I stopped breathing over 60 times in 30 minutes.

If he has sleep apnea, he will be given a cpap machine. Once he gets used to it, he won't be able to sleep without it. My husband says instead of snoring, I purr during the night.

If he's snoring that bad, you're probably not the only one feeling like a zombie - snoring ruins a good night's sleep, and is to blame for shaving years off an otherwise healthy life. My fiance has apnea pretty bad, so I spent a significant amount of every night nudging him in the back to start breathing again. We finally got him into do a sleep study. They put him on a C-pap machine, and once he got used to it, sleeps a million times better. And I do too. Have him talk to his regular doctor about it - insurance covers the sleep study and machine. You'll both appreciate it. :}

I agree with Lisa..... get him checked for sleep apnea. My brother snored bad and he stayed one night in a sleep center at the hospital. Found out he had stopped breathing many times in the night. He never knew this all along. He always felt like he didnt get a good nights rest. Well, he had to get and use one of those breathing machines with a mask. He uses it to sleep every single night. No snoring. Sleeps great. Doesnt stop breathing. He said he would not be without that machine. He even took it to another country on a mission trip!

My husband has a deviated septum and that causes him to snore. However, sleep apnea is also a possibility and needs to be investigated by his doctor or a sleep specialist. It's a lifelong condition that is causally tied to other health problems and can be fatal. Treatment involves a breathing machine that makes a person breathe during their sleep. My father-in-law and my mother both use breathing machines. They even have safeguards for if the power goes out - the machine will reset and keep working on battery power. :)

Good luck with everything! I hope you get to be together again soon!
