Seeking Moms Experience in Columbus Ohio

I have never personally experienced this, but I have a friend whose brother often got nosebleeds during the night. His ped said that it probably resulted from a combination of dry air, allergies and wood floors in his bedroom. My friend says it was wierd, but anytime they would go out of town to somewhere more humid and stay in hotels (which are mostly carpeted) he would not have any nosebleeds until they were home a few days. Not sure if any of this helps or not, but thought I could share and maybe ease your concerns a bit. I probably should mention that they lived in southern NM where it is VERY dry-so I don't know if the two are even comparable, but you never know.
BTW-my friends brother is over 30 now and hasn't had a nosebleed since he was about 12.

My son has always had nose bleeds. The doctor never seemed concern. They checked to make sure there were no blood vessels in his nose that needed cartherized (sp?), and said everything looked fine. My son seemed to get them when it was dry. I think allergies play a roll in it as well. The best advise I received is to use a little vasoline in the nostrils. I have always kept calm when he has nose bleeds & have taught him how to get a kleenex, pinch the bridge of his nose, etc., to help stop the flow. Good luck. Always keep napkins or kleenex around & maybe even some stain stick. LOL :-]

I started getting nosebleeds as a teenager, so I will tell you my experience, although I was quite a bit older than your son. My situation was caused by misalignment of my spine/neck. My spine in the neck area was too straight, instead of having a natural curve. With a few adjustments from my chiropractor, the nosebleeds happened much less often. Good luck!

I haven't had experience from a mom point of view with this, but I do remember my brothers getting frequent nosebleeds. One brother, in particular, had them a lot. The doctor (and the grandmothers) thought it might be from the dry air. Can you put a cool mist humidifier in his room while he sleeps? Just an idea.
