Hello,
We are moving to Virginia Beach in a few weeks and wanted some advise on good preschools in the area. Preferably ones in Virginia Beach so I don't have to far to drive. Thanks!

I love Mother's Day Out in Kempsville. My daughter's 2 and from day one, she just ran in and started playing with no problems...it was awesome. That's always a good sign. The number's ###-###-####. I called around EVERYWHERE and this was very reasonably priced and they're so nice there. Hope this helps.

There is a good school at Rock Christian DaySchool, 640 Kempsville Road in Virginia Beach. We teach the Abeka Curriculum with infants to 4 year old. Our hours are 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Feel free to give me a call at ###-###-#### or 2l7-2112 or e-mail ____@____.com We will look forward to hearing from you.

In VA Beach where? Ocean Front, Pembroke, Court House, Shore Drive... The ebach is pretty big, and it can take an hour to get from one side to the other, especially in the morning and afternoon. If you can be more specific I will let you know if I can help.

Hi B.-

My husband is in the Marine Corps as well and we have lived in Va. Beach for four years. You will love it here! We will be PCSing this summer and are going through the same "finding the right preschool anxiety" for our son. What zipcode will you be living in so I can help you with some preschools?

Hi there. I've lived in VA Beach for seven years and we sent two of our children to Mothers Day Out Preschool and Kindergarten on Old Kempsville Road. Here is their information: 1072 Old Kempsville Road, VB, VA 23464. Phone: ###-###-####. My daughter went for one year and my son for two years. I can't say enough great things about it! And FYI my daughter and son ended up with the same teachers, three years apart. That says a lot since preschools tend to have lots of teacher turnover! Contact them soon because they start enrolling in the early spring. Hope this helps.

I just signed my 2 yr old up at Courthouse Academy to begin in the fall. If you prefer a church-based preschool, close friends of mine recommended London Bridge Baptist Preschool and Holy Spirit (on Lynnhaven). Many preschools have already started their registration process for the fall, so I would suggest getting started as soon as possible. Good luck!

Since your husband is in the Marine Corps, you might want to check out the Youth Development Center (YDC) on base. My kids are now in middle and high school but the YDC was a good affordable preschool back then. It is at least an option. Other options will depend on if you are just looking for preschool or if you need child care as well and also which section of Virginia Beach you will be living in and how far you will be willing to drive. Just keep in mind at times it can take an hour to get from one section to another. If I have more information I can give you names of other facilities that could assist you. I hope this helps.

I also like the Mother's day out preschool on Old Kempsville Road. My son cried for a while as I'm a stay at home mom, and just didn't get used to it...They made me feel very very good about leaving Aryan in their care, and that if he was stressed out during the day, they would let me know and I could take him out. But We signed up for next year at 3 days! He likes it so much he asks to go back after I pick him up.

Here's some other schools I've heard great things about: 1) Salem Methodist church (Salem Road, Virginia Beach), 2) Bethel Baptist Church (Elbow Road / Chesapeake, Virginia) 3) London Bridge Baptist Church ( London Bridge area, Va Bch).
there's also a catholic preschool that my friend is now sending her son to this year, and she's very happy about their lessons throughout the year. Apparently they add science and have lower teacher:student ratios. Salem Methodist also has lower ratios! :)

Good luck!
