I actually had it done years ago when I was a teenager. I was very selfconscious (sp?) and the outcome was wonderful. Prior to the procedure I would never wear my hair up and afterwards I had no problem with it. I still feel as if my ears are a bit stiff in the back where they attach but overall I am so glad I had the reconstruction. You can see scars but need to look really ahrd to see them. Of course I can't see them:) BTW I remember feeling that it was the worst pain I had ever experienced. feel free to contact me with any questions.

If you are referring to ear stapeling to use as a weight reduction method then I can tell you about my story. I have tried everything to loose weight. It worked for about 1 week and then hurt like heck when the skin around it started to grow. I wasn't very hungry during that week but I think what worked was knowing that I had just spent all this money on something and it had to work. I feel that it was a waste of money for me and I had it in for about 6 weeks. What I have found is that proper exercise and nutrition are key. If this is something you want to dicuss more, please contact me and I can help you with that.

My daughter had her ears pinned back, but I don't know if that is considered ear stapling. Her both ears were flopped. We went to an awesome doctor at CHOP, Dr. Howard Caplan. He did both ears we were home same day. She was uncomfortable for a day, but not in pain. We did this when she was 5, she is now 9. Her ears look wonderful, her scars are in the back of the ear, you can't see them.

Do you mean a procedure to make the ears stick out less? My dad and brother both had it done a few years ago. I am assuming it's for you or your husband, because I don't believe it can be performed until the person has finished growing.
Anyway, it is an outpatient procedure. The recovery time is a few days, although I am sure by now they have made improvements to it. My dad and brother had their heads wrapped when they came home (like gauze helmets!). The result is great though. I am not really sure how much pain is involved, I can't remember too well since it was probably 8 years ago or so. I can ask if you want and get back to you though!
