I have been keeping my family out of state updated on my child's growth through babiesonline- but she is no longer a baby and I'd like a site I can do more with.
Does anyone have a website they would recommend? It needs to be FREE. Other important features to me are:
able to post photos, videos, favorite links
password protected
ability to send out notices to family and friends that the website has been updated
Although I liked blogger best, I think i will have to go with shutterfly. It appears that anyone viewing the blogger site must now have a gmail account and I don't want everyone to have to create an account. I could be wrong about that so I'll continue trying to figure it out for a little bit.

I love Blogger it is great and FREE! You can check mine out if you would like. If you want to create one just click on the top right side of the screen to create your own. This is the best way for me to communicate with my famiily without having to send emails out to everyone all of the time. Also a great way for me to capture memories for my family. I print out my blog every couple of months and put it in a binder for a keepsake. I LOVE IT!

I have to second blogspot..I love it!! And, I hear you can have your blogs published for you, pictures and all, sort of like a scrap book/ journal. I am looking into that for sure! Be warned, blogging is addicting, and looking at other peoples blogs, even those you dont even know, is pretty fun too!! ~A.~
I have used familylobby.com for a few years now, and love it.
I use Shutterfly and love it! I have links on there, plus tabs for my family, my husbands family, the kids and I had a page for the 4 legged kiddos also. I can upload videos, plus TONS of pictures (huge benefit to this is that if someone in your family wants a picture, they can just click on it and order it). You can journal PLUS I've added music to mine. I love love love it...I think mine is password protected just for comments...here's the link. kimndave.shutterfly.com

It isn't real customizable but cute and free :-)There are sections that you can use for links and blogs that I have removed.
