Secure Photo Site

I would like to start displaying my daughter's photos on the web for our friends and family, but my hubby and I are pretty concerned about security. Does anyone have a recommendation for a site that is safe? I think we are looking for something that is at least password protected. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I really like Snapfish.com, you have a passworded account and you can upload your pictures, then send an email to anyone you want to see the pictures, they have to make a free account to view them with a password, but they'll always have access to them. Also, with snapfish you and whomever you gave access to the pictures can order prints, which I find grandparents really like. They also have memory books and display items that you can have your child's picture put on, but only you and the people you send the pictures to have access.

Hi R.,

Have you considered a yahoo group? It's free and your family can post messages to each other, as well as post their own pictures. You have to give permission to every member, so no one can view your pics (or messages) without being a member. Only your homepage will show. There are very easy-to-use databases (pre-designed so you just enter the title info) that you can even set up for birthdays, addresses, etc. Yahoo.com is where you'd find a link to set up your own group.

The downside is that my spam went wayyyyy up, but I don't mind that because all I do is delete them--and they usually just go to my spam box anyway. I think it's a small price to pay to have this for my family, as well as the many groups I belong to!

If you have any questions, let me know!

Hi R.,

My family chose Babyjellybeans.com to host my son's photos. The site is password protected and you can determine if the photos are eligible for printing through Shutterfly. We chose the site for about $10 a month instead of creating photo albums on shutterfly, kodak, etc because our family members can view the site, with cute caption and then choose which photos to print (if any) . They can come back anytime to get updates. We can send ecard invitations to alert loved ones that photos have been added to the site. We've had the site for almost two years now and love it. Hope that helps!

Hello. My family and I use myfamily.com. It is password protected. Only the people you invite are aloud to see your photos. We love it. It's great for us because we have family in different states and we still get to enjoy seeing pictures of everyone. Hope this helps.

Take Care,
M.

Hey there! Well, I have a Kodak Digital Camera and I use their photo editing software that came with the camera (or you can even download it onto your computer if you have a different type of camera - it's called Kodak Easy Share). But, with it comes an online gallery at www.kodakgallery.com where you can upload and share photos with your friends and family. I don't know if it has a password protection or not on it but the only way they can view it is if you E-Mail them the link to it and there's an option for you to choose whether or not you require them to sign up in order to sign in. This works really well for me because all they have to do is save the link in their favorites and check it out anytime. As I said, YOU have to provide them access by E-Mailing them the link (that's sort of password protected). But, maybe check that out and see how it works for you. Hope this helps and Happy Holidays!

I use flickr.com. They have options for making your photos private and you can choose which friends can view your photos and even send direct links to your friends and family. They also have a very nice uploading tool that you can download. HTH! Kymber

Hi R.,

I actually use babysites.com. It's a free website and you can actually send people email messages to let them know about it. I think its great, especially since its free. You can add pics whenever you want and write different blogs or milestones. Check it out. Good luck

I download my pictures to kodakgallery.com. I'm not sure if that is what you are looking for, but you can invite people to see your albums, and then they have to sign in to see them. You can see who signs in and when. The only issue of security would be that the people that you send the invitation to can forward it to someone else. If they get that inviation then they too can sign in to see that particular album.
