I am the proud mother of a precocious 4 year old daughter. We are African American and we are looking for a child care center that has high academic goals, love (of course) and children of color. If it is a faith-based center I'd prefer it to be Christian. I am searching for recommendations, referrals, guidance of any kind. Thank you soo much!

I love Ms. Soraya's Montessori on Spring Creek and Custer, it is really diverse and small and she is a very dedicated person. I highly recommend it. ###-###-####

I notice all of the answers are Montessori schools. If you prefer a Christian-based preschool and don't mind the drive, Wesley Christian Preschool in McKinney is THE BEST! They have chapel every week, pray before meals, and each week has a Bible-based theme for learning. Of course they also focus on writing, socialization, academic-type curriculum. His teachers are VERY connected w/ the children. When my son (4YO) was out for illness, the teacher called to ask if he was okay because they missed him in school. Another plus, the director is at the door EVERY SINGLE DAY at drop-off and pick-up, knows the parents and children by name, and is very readily available for any questions.

My son is 1/2 African-American, in his class there are 2 other AAs, one Asian and Indian, along with Caucasian students. I have noticed this same diversity in the other classes in the school.

Good luck and God Bless you and your family.

We got to Apple Creek Preschool in Allen and love that it is a multicultural environment and that religious and ethnic diversity among the families is respected. I am constantly impressed with all that my daughter learns in her classes, both academically and socially, and the quality of the teachers and staff. They also encourage parent involvement in the classes and school and are NAEYC certified - one of a very few programs in the area. In addition to their preschool classes, they offer a phonics reading program, too. Our daughter was in the 3s class last year and is in the Pre-K class this year.

My 2-year-old goes to Breckinridge Montessori (http://www.breckinridgemontessori.com) in northeast Richardson. It's not faith-based, but seems to fit the other requirements. I highly recommend it!

I am not sure how far this is from you, but you can call Danielle Cosey at Little Professor's Montessori Learning Academy. She is located at 520 North McDonald Street. ###-###-####. You would love her - she is family run.
