I have been married for almost 2 years. We have a 1 year old daughter now that was conceived on our wedding night. So our married years have been a lot of focus on her. I would like to romance my husband again. Looking for ideas.

What can I do next?

I did a scavenger hunt for "me." I picked a few places to leave clues. We went out to dinner. While my husband was in the bathroom, I left the first clue on the table and left. I sent my husband to where we had our first date, best friends house, our house, where we bought our wedding cake, and then to the final destination of the hotel we stayed at on our wedding night. I had the room decorated with candles, had chocolate covered strawberries and wine, romantic music, and new lingerie. If you don't have the money for a hotel room, you can send him back to your home. Get a babysitter for the evening. Grandma and grandpa did it for me. Back up plan if my hubby didn't use the restroom after dinner, was to excuse myself to the restroom and have the waitress give my husband the first clue. I kept the clues very simple. The last clue was: On our special day, I was dresed in white, where did we go that night. I made sure on the first clue that he had a hint line to call. My mom had all the answers to the clues. He didn't need any help though. I had my best friend pick me up at the restaurant and take me to the hotel. You don't have to start at a restaurant either. You can take your daughter "shopping or to the park", leave hubby at home, but take daughter to grandmas house instead. Have someone deliver the first clue to him at home. Send him on the hunt, sneak back home and get everything set up. Just make sure you have a good idea of how long he will take. Drive the route you will be sending him on to see how long it takes. If he figures out the clues right away, it will basically be driving time only until he finds you. This may help dictate how many clues and places you want to send him. You can do a scavenger hunt however you want. You imagination is the limit. It was exciting, fun, and in the end we had a very romantic evening.

find someone to watch your baby and go do something you did while you were dating: a movie, a dinner out (even fast food tastes better without the baby to worry about). Just a little time together now and then can make all the difference. If you have someone who can watch the baby overnight, so much the better (though for me it was very hard the first time we left the kids with Grandma).

Hi T.,

I love the ideas that I've read so far, I'm totally going to try some of them out on my husband. One thing to remember though is that romancing your sweetie doesn't have to be about getting lucky...(though that is a fabulous benefit.) :-) There is a wonderful book called the 5 Love Languages that you might enjoy. When I plan special time for my sweetie, I just try to give him quiet/stress free time. A time when he can come home and put his head on my lap and we can just read a book together, or something. He tells me he loves it more when I tell him how much I appreciate his help around the house, rather than trying to seduce him. He feels great about coming home because I listen when he tells me about his day and admire how he solved problems. One of our favorite things to do together is to watch cheesy B rated movies and laugh at them. Just the two of us snuggled on the couch with a snack we can share. Just being together can speak volumes of love.

Of course if an evening of sultry pleasure is what you are after, take a shower and put on that special scent (and find one if you don't have one) put fresh sheets on the bed, wear a skirt with no undies and sit on his lap and let him figure it out on his own.

Hi T.

Just a bit of advice (hard act to follow about the scavenger hunt great idea there) My hubby wouldnt play right in that so I would do something very simple and to the point (remember its the girls that like the game the guys mostly like the reward!)
So, that said, get sitter, buy something sexy to wear, add a new element (only one, dont use all the tricks the first time) candles, light bulb color in your room, a toy, or simple "advice dice" sold in the novelty stores... after a nice dinner go to the bathroom quietly and get "un" dressed-up in your new affair...then add make-up like very RED lipstick and a bit darker eye make-up. pull up your hair if its long in a seductive loose knot. then, call him into your room asking for help with something....be sure to take in the reaction...it will be truly the most memorable part!!!! Nothing else will be needed he will take over from there.

GOOD LUCK! HAVE FUN!!!!!!

Hi T.!!
Great question, and very much needed!! You dont' have to go out and spend money and enjoy life outdoors. How about cooking together, they say the best recipes are started together- right? so, go ahead send the kids with g-ma for some time and enjoy just being together!!
This is the best part- sampling the food and then from there let the magic begin!!

Get a sitter; wine tasting can be fun, take along a loaf of french specialty bread, apples and cheddar cheese,a small knife, and two plastic wine glasses and a bottle opener. Also take along a CD of music you both loved to listen to in the past. Rent a convertible and go have fun! Livermore has some great places for tasting, some have picnic sites. Blacksmith square has a nice patio with tables/umbrellas and a fountain. RELAXING! (you can even do this in your backyard after your daughter goes to bed on a summer eve)

Have a nice spagetti dinner waiting for him when he comes home. Candles, wine, a deep red tablecloth. Play an Italian music cd of love arias called "amore." Play footsie under the table.
