Recommendation on a Energy Companies?

Right now my hubs and I have a 3 story townhouse and Bounce Energy.

We've gotten several super high bills, and I'm just wondering, what power companies do other people use? Do you feel like you're getting ripped off? I know the weather in Dallas has been all over the board, but we aren't doing anything crazy!!

Other recommendations?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Well fate interceded! Dallas had a big snow storm a month ago and a pipe froze on the 3rd floor and there was so much damage we moved. I used the compare energy companies website many of the folks suggested and found a great new rate... we haven't been in a whole month cycle yet, but it's about 4cents cheaper then the old rate, so I am hopeful I can keep those bills down! Thanks everyone!!!

I'm saving a ton of money because I switched from TXU to Reliant ask about their power/ 20 wind plan I think it's going to save you a ton we are saving over half of our bill and our home is almost 3000 sq ft

Star Tex Power is great!!!

Right now we are using Green Mountain Energy. I signed up for a 6 month plan that had a good rate. I didn't want to sign up for anything longer than 6 months because the last time I signed up for a plan that lasted a year and I got a really good rate at the time, but then the rates went down a lot and I ended up paying more than I should have. I think it is kind of a gamble whether to sign up for a long term plan or go month to month.

Go to http://powertochoose.org/ to look up the rates of the electric companies in your area.

We also added insulation in the attic which helped a lot.

Good luck!

I have been able to save on my energy by switching to AMBIT Energy, you can go to agora.ambitenergy.biz check it out. You will be amezed how much you can save and free to switch over.

Good Luck!

Look at your bill - the key number is kw/h. If it's more than 11 cents per hour, you're paying too much. In December I paid 9.68 cents/kwh. The state set up a website called www.powertochoose.org to help consumers find the lowest rate, but now the power companies have "polluted" the table of rates with misleading teaser rates for the first month or so. It takes a while to sift through these bogus offers to find a true deal. Also, the last time I checked, the "greenest" energy was the most expensive! You can check with Julie at ____@____.com or ###-###-#### for a good deal.

I have Stream Energy and I am really happy with them. My rates have decreased with them over time. I left TXU paying something like14c a killowatt hour and moved to Stream for 13c, the next renewal 6 months later I got sometwhere in the 12s, the next renewal and the next each time it has gone down. I'm now in the 10.7c range. So, my electric bill has been steadily going down. I used a power broker - he is the guy that got me with Stream. They pay him to market for them, so no cost to us. I can give you his number if you want.

I also use Ambit Energy and am very happy with them. I am not a rep for them but get travel points if you sign up through my link. Feel free to sign up with a rep, since I think they make money from it (but doesn't cost you anything).

Last month I paid $0.079 per kWh and I am on the Lone Star Select 6 month term plan.

Good luck!
