Rechargeable Stick Vacuums and Steam Mops

My old Swiffer Sweeper Vac has finally bit the dust. I am looking to replace it with something more permanent. We have hardwood floors. I wondered the the Mama's opinions were on stick vacuums, like the Shark or the Bissel? I vacuum / sweep everyday so reliability and convenience are very important.

I've also been considering a Steam Mops, has anyone tried them? Do they work well?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thank you so much Mamas! I am still investigating the steam mops. The guy at Bed Bath and Beyond highly recommended the H2O steam mop, so I am checking that out. Since you all loved the steam mops, I will certainly go that route.

As for stick vacuums: I went out on a limb and bought the Electrolux Pronto from Bed Bath and Beyond. Although it was more expensive than the Shark, I was using gift cards that I bought with my Discovercard cashback points, and I also had a 20% off coupon. It works great. I can zip around the kitchen and breakfast nook and get all the crumbs, cat hair and dust. It kind of disgusting how much it picks up, I can't believe that much dirt gets on my floors on a daily basis.

I'll update when I figure out the steam mop. Thanks for all your input!

I have the Shark Brand Stick Vac and Steam Mop. I like them both. The Stick Vac works well on my hardwood and tile but not great on carpet. It's good for a quick sweep up situation and picks up dog hair and crubs quite well. The review on the Bissel was not good so I went with the Shark instead. The Steam Mop is another quick fix type machine. I still use a traditional mop in between cleanings because I feel it gets the floor cleaner. Hope this was somewhat helpful.

I bought the Shark Steam Mop off QVC online last month, if they still have any left it comes with extra pads and you have the option of paying it out over 5 months on your credit or debit card at no charge. Plus it was cheaper than in the store, shipping was the same as sales tax. Sweet!

It works "ok". It doesnt wipe away stuff as easily as on the commerical, what does. But I love that there is no nasty bucket of water and old dirty mop. That the steam is so much more sanitary than that and I can throw the pad in the wash. That is such a plus that I dont care if it needs the extra run overs to get stuff up.

I have the bissell floor sweeper. I had the shark too, actually two of them because one went out. Our bissell sweeper (bought at Target, not sure if there are different models sold at different places) has outlasted my Sharks over time and works just as well as they did, if not better. After awhile the Sharks just started to "putter" and not work as well, even with cleanings. My bissell is still going strong after year two!

Good Luck!

I have a shark that I like. I keep it in the pantry and the kids use it to clean up after themselves under the table. It definately gets the big stuff, probably not as great at getting little dirt/dust, but it's been great for the inbetween cleanings.

I have the Shark Steam mop, Love it!

My sister seems to love her steam mop. I am want one too. I have a home day care and need every day cleaning but always have cleaned all the time. So she says they work. G. W

I have the Shark Steam Mop and I love it. I use it just about everyday and it works great. I got mine at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, and I think that they had the replacement pads there also.

Love Love Love the Shark Steam mop. It does have a different "feel" than a traditional mop so it took a little getting used to but once I got used moving the mop around more slowly, I actually think I mop in a lot less time and get much better results (and therefore I stay on top if it a whole lot better).
