Anyone Used a Steam Mop?

Just thinking about buying a steam mop to clean my large kitchen & bathroom floors. Has anyone tried the H20 steam mop or the Shark steam mop? Is it worth getting one more gadget to ad to my utility room or should I stick with the good old fashion mop?

What can I do next?

I have had many steam mops and I just bought by far my favorite. I dont remember if I bought it at Home Depot or Lowes but it was about $100 and it comes with many different attachments for removing wallpaper, cleaning grills, grout lines, floors and so much more.

I love steam cleaners over regular mops - I havent used a traditional mop in probabl 10 yrs......

Here is a link to show what type I bought... however, it is from a different website since I couldnt find it at either of the home imptovement websites. Sometimes they just dont show everything online.

I've had a Bissell Steam Mop for several years and I love it! It's so much eaiser to use and gets my floors clean! I have wood and concrete floors downstairs so having a mop that is so easy to use makes a cumbersome job easier!

I have read a lot of reviews and most are good for all the models. I was glad to see that there people on this website that have had good experiances. So now I am convinced that I should get one. I haven't decided on one yet, i was debating between the bissell and the H2O. Good luck hunting.

I haven't bought one, but was looking into it. Go to amazon.com and read the reviews for each one. I had read about the Shark in a magazine and after I read the reviews on it, I reconsidered and I am thinking of purchasing the Bissell steam mop. I'll have to check back and see what the others say about their experiences.

I bought the H20 mop and love it! I bought it at linens n things and took in a coupon...google linens n things coupon and you can probably find a coupon to take in. I have not found the replacement pads but it comes with 2 that are washable. It gets out big spills with no scrubbing! Dries fast! Love the fact that it is only hot water going on the floor for my little one to crawl on. I will never use a ,mop with nasty water again! Good luck!

I haven't tried it yet, but a lady I work with has the purple shark and swears by it. She loves it. She said that she mops on a regular basis, but when she used the steam mop she realized how unclean her floors really were it got up all the dirt on the tiles and in the grout. Hope this helps, but I plan to get one. Also the good thing about the steam mop is that you don't have to gave to cleaners in the house for you grandchildren to get into. No chemicals.

i heard an read bad things about the Shark, so I go a bissell instead.
Works great and it SO worth it. Saves a lot of time and your floors get VERY clean.

I bought a bissel steam mop a few months ago and I love it. I live in government quarters so we have linoleum floors downstairs and it keeps my floors looking nice and clean. It also seems that my floors stay clean longer.

I bought the Shark at Costco and returned it 2 months later. I tried to like it but in the end I still had to pull out the mop and Pine Sol. My floors appeared dingy afterawhile and I just didn't see how steam can sanitize my floors. I do like the fact that the floor stays dry. That's good, but I could never get in the corners or do my baseboards, so that stayed dirty until I got the old fashioned mop out. The black on the pad is the same as the black in the mop water after you're done so it's not like the pad is picking up something the mop is not. It did take me longer to mop with the Shark because the steam needed to soak the dirt first for a few seconds, so I would go over the same areas more times than with a hot watered mop.

I purchased the Shark Steam mop from Sam's Club and I like it because you don't have to get the bucket and water out but it leaves my tile floor all sticky so I don't use it anymore. I am back to the good old bucket and mop. . .

I have used the Shark. It does clean and make the floors look nice however I didn't feel it as clean as using an old fashion mop. Although it is easier!

My best friend bought the Shark steam mop about a month ago and I once borrowed it. Her and I both LOVE it!!! After a quick sweeping, I steam mopped my large kitchen and two bathrooms (one large and one medium) in about 10 minutes! This is the best part - it was virtually dry immediately after! My friend just bought the Shark sweeper on Sunday. We haven't had a chance to test it - it had to charge for 24 hours. She also tried the Shark steam cleaner (for showers and tubs, etc.) and said that was a piece of junk. She had to take that one back. But the Shark steam mop gets our thumbs up! L.

I bought the Shark a few months ago and use it nearly every week. Our whole house is tiled, so it gets good use as long as I have the time to clean. It has been invaluable at steaming out the gunk caught in grout.

PROS: gets into small spaces, no cleaners required, different nozzles for custom jobs, floors are dry instantly, takes off crayon like magic!

CONS: takes longer than regular mopping (waiting for water to heat up), pads get dirty quickly (buy and extra 2 if you mop often), still have to scrub off sticky gunk like candy

Hope this helps!

PS- I had a Bissel when we first moved in, but our grout is deep and the Bissel wouldn't pick up the water laying in the grout. Not a problem with the steamer's pad.

We've done some research on the steam mops and I have found a lot of people who complain about the shark. They all say that the handle is flimsy and breaks easily. There is one that I found, that i am interested in and it's made by Kalorik. I have only found a couple reviews about it, and they were good ones. Good luck!

I borrowed my mother-in-law's shark steam mop thing a couple of months ago.. I absolutely loved it!

I clean my floors often and mop once a week.. but when I ran that baby across my floors it turned black.. BLACK! Disgusting.. all this time I thought my floors were clean but this thing proved me wrong.

No idea how much it costs as I live in France, but it was a really nice "toy".. I need to get one myself especially with a baby who will soon be crawling around.

I'm not sure about the H2O brand but I do know that the shark steam mop is great. It's works just as good as they show on the comercial.I wouldn't suggest buying it from there because you can buy it from Target. It is a great deal and works better than a regular mop or the swifers.

My realtor warned us not to use a steam mop on wooden floors because it brings up the glue. Be careful if you have this type of floor.

You should be able to pick up a Shark on eBay for about $20. I have another brand I got at Tuesday Morning that I loved until it died, so I need to replace it now. But steam is a great cleaning method!! It sanitizes the floor using no chemicals which means no residue and we all need less chemical in our homes any how. Yeah!

No, but my concern about it is, even though it steams the cloth on it would just spread the dirt all over the floor. I have though about that for quite awhile and I just can not convience myself it would be any better, and it is not really cleaning but spreading it everywhere.
I did at one time buy the Shark Steam cleaner that cleans your counter tops bathrooms, and it did not work. When I returned it to the store they said that item of returned more than anything else they sell. So, I think the same thing about the steam mop.

Like many others have said, the Bissell is great! Works well on tile and hardwood too! Not only does it clean better than a regular mop, it's so much easier to get it out, use, and put away than a mop and bucket. Floors dry quicker too.

Good Luck,
K.

We like the steam mop for the fact it gets the hard stuff out without having to scrub, but it doesn't seem to clean it. We always pull out our Swiffer mop afterwards and the pad is still black. So, we know for sure it is not actually cleaning it. I am tempted to still use a regular mop after doing those two things just to see how much more dirt could be left behind.
