Hello all- I am wondering what the going rate is these days for nannies, whether it be a per hour basis or weekly rate? Do any of you know? I'm in the Lakewood area...

Thanks!
R.

We hired a nanny last summer for our daughter and at that time the going rate was anywhere b/w $10-13 per hour for a full-time live out nanny.

We have a nanny for our daughter and pay her about $350/week but she works part time and we provide her with over 8 weeks of paid vacation. When we were looking for nannies in the open market they were running about $10/hour for just one child. This rate is for nannies without too much experience if you are looking for someone with an educational background you will need to pay much more. There is definitely an underground nanny network in Dallas. The best way to find a great nanny is through a referral. Try reaching out to people in your church or other moms at your playground. Good luck!

I know that the weekly rate for a professional nanny is somewhere in the neighborhood of $350... the price usually goes up the more kids there are.

Maybe you can find a stay at home mommy friend that will nanny for you? I'm doing this for friends of ours. They allow me to bring my little guy to their house. I watch their 6 week old, and pick up their 7 year old from school, cleanup after the baby (do laundry and such, and occasionally run errands. They're paying me $200 a week for 5 days. I think it works out best for all of us. They pay me about the same they would a good daycare, but have much more peace of mind about who's watching their baby.

Hope that helps a bit!
