Wondering Average Hourly Pay for PT Nanny?
My child is 2-1/2, and I'm wondering what the average pay is for a pt nanny in the Lakeview area. I'd look for about 24 hours a week (3 days/8hrs). Some people I've interviewed said $11 for 1 child, some say no less than $15! What is the going rate to make sure I'm not getting cheated but being fair?

Until recently, I was paying $10/hr for a PT nanny for one child in Andersonville. I'm guessing Lakeview should be pretty comparable. The range from nannies I interviewed was $10-16/hr for one child. I'm now paying $13/hr for two. Hope this helps.

We live in lakeview too and have a pt time nanny (3 days per week, 8-10 hours per day). We pay her 11 dollars an hour. Because my schedule tends to fluctuate we decided to just pay her a "sallary" and then if it works greatly in her favor she gives us a few weekend nights "for free". Hope this makes sense. Oh, I should have told you too that our son is 5.5 months old.

I live near the Lakeview area and have found that whether the nanny is full or part time really doesn't have any impact on hourly pay. You can find well qualified nannies and babysitters for the going rate of $10 for one child, $12 for 2. I think the highest going rate in this area is $12 for one child. I have two children (ages 1 and 3) and we pay our nanny $11/hour for 29 to 35 hours per week. (The 3 year old is in school and comes and goes so it was easier to do $11 than keep track of how many kids for how many hours, etc).
Hope that helps!

I recently got a new nanny and did a lot of research into nannies costs, etc. The average for one child is $10-$12/hour (I pay $11 for mine). $15/hour is for two kids and still on the high side. You can find a lot of great nannies for $10-$12/hour. Good luck.

We had our nanny for 10.5 hours a day for 3 days a week and we paid her $11/hr. The other family she worked for the other 2 days a week paid her $12/hr. When the 2 babies were together, we paid her $15/hr.

I paid $10 for a newborn. It seems that $12 is going rate in our area for more than one child. I live in Sauganash/Edgebrook (northwest). I am currently looking for pt nanny and would love to see if we're in the price ballpark with posts you've received. Please reply, if you've time.

We pay our part-time nanny in the south loop $12/hr. She watches my 18 month old 1 day/week. She also watches another 2 kids 2 days per week and charges the same $12/hr.

If the nanny has a lot of experience or comes to you through a service, $12.00 an hour might be a good place to start for the care of one child.
