Purple Spots on Upper Gums
My 14 month old has had 2 small purple spots on his tops gums for about a week now. They are in the same spot but on opposite sides. It doesn't seem to be bothering him. No fever or irritability. I think it may be teeth coming but I have never heard of this. I am going to call the doct. tomorrow because they now seem to be more swollen tonight. Has anyone else had this on their child?
So What Happened?™
I found out they are called eruption cysts. He still has one but the other side broke thru after having them for a month. The purple spot is now gone!!

my youngest dd had these when her eye teeth were coming in. I think they are like a bruise from the teeth trying to push through

it is teeth getting ready to break through- my daughter has had this and her gums also always bleed when she is teething. i think some kiddos gums are just more sensitive than others.

usually when the teeth come in it looks like blisters and kind of yellowish white before the teeth come in. make sure you brush his teeth and keep his mouth clean.
i would talk to the dentist if you are really worried.

Purple spots, blood blisters at the tooth site: we've more then hade both in my 3 boys :) Ther fact that they are swollen and symeterical make me believe that they are just ghis teeth moving down. Give him some thing to chew on if he will take it, or try *frozen* yogurt tubes with supervision. They might get even more purple and swell ast eh tooth decends into the gum more fully and prepares to erupt. Congrats on 2 more teeth ready to rock into place :)
