Hi, I am 14 1/2 weeks pregnant and have been on Prometrium since I was 6 wks. Mr dr says I can quit this week...and just to stop. I feel anxious about that. Anyone have any experience with Prometrium...did you just quit (what week), or did you wean off (how/what week)? I am taking 200 mg Prometrium twice daily. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I know you have already had a lot of responses but I echo everyone else. I took it with my 2 babies and quit around 13 weeks. And they are both perfectly healthy! I did not wean just stopped, the crucial time for that medicine is now over! Praise God! Good Luck with your baby. Blessings

I'm not pregnant but I take 600mg (200mg three times a day) for two weeks every month. My dr told me to use the last couple of days of those 2 weeks to wean - so I just cut my dose in half for the last day and a half. He didn't stress the importance of weaning or anything - kind like stopping was not a big deal. Anyway, it works fine for me; never any withdrawals and I've been doing this almost a year. No problems.

Hi K.. I was on Prometrium, too, from the first positive pregnancy test until 10 weeks or 12 weeks. Sorry I can't remember which week I stopped. I just stopped taking them. I felt anxious about the whole pregnancy for many reasons, but everything turned out great. Our baby girl will be 10 months next week.

I remember all of my doctors (I had three OB/GYNs because we moved right before we got pregnant) said the first trimester was the most critical to take the Prometrium.

I hope this helps. Happy to talk more about this if you'd like. Good luck with everything.

I took Prometrium for 11 weeks and I was supposed to stay on it for 12 weeks. My perscription ran out and i called the doctor (fertility specialist) and he gave me the green light to just stop. I now have a beautiful 5 and half month old daughter!

Hi!

I started Prometrium at 4 weeks pregnant and quit at 12 weeks. I took the same exact dose that you are on. I had no side effects and I am now 25 weeks pregnant and have had no complications. I do not think it will hurt you to go ahead and stop taking it. Your body should be making plenty of the progesterone by its self at this point! Good luck! I'm sure everything will be fine.:)
