My docter has put me on Prometruim because of the fact the my hormone that helps you carry the baby is low. I was wondering if anyother moms out there have had this problem and how did the pregnancy turn out?

What can I do next?

I took it for the first trimester. I was a little nervous, but I now have a beautiful, wonderful 2 yr. old princess. It will all work out fine!!

I took it with both my pregnancies. The first pregnancy b/c it was an assisted pg (injectables & IUI) and my 2nd just to be safe (conceived naturally). It does make you tired, but other than that I had no problems with it. I stopped taking it at the end of the first trimester with both!! Both my boys are active and normal!!

Hi! I had this problem with my first pregnancy. He is 3 now, and my pregnancy was fine. He was healthy and big when he was born. I am pregnant now with twins and I had to take prometruim again. I just was allowed to stop taking it about a week ago. It does drain your energy and you will sleep a lot more, but other than that itis fine. Good luck!!

I am on it right now. I am currently 11 weeks pregnant. I go in next week and then I should stop taking it. I hope everything turns out well...I am sure it will!

I was on Prometrium until almost 15 weeks (if I remember correctly). I had LOTS of bleeding. WARNING ... it does make you very very very tired.

How did it turn out? I have a very healthy, happy 20 month old boy!

Please contact me if you have any questions!

GL with your pregnancy!

Took it with both of my babies. The prometrium might make you tired, but first trimester makes you tired anyway, so I'm not sure if the prometrium is the whole cause of that. From what I understand (and I may not be remembering this correctly), the first trimester is when your body is making the placenta. This requires certain levels of progesterone, which comes from your ovaries. If your ovaries are a little out of whack you might be able to get pregnant, but won't make enough progesterone to sustain the pregnancy through the first trimester. (After my first pregnancy ended in miscarriage around 10 weeks, and given my irregular cycles leading up to that pregnancy, this is what my doc assumed was going on, so prescribed the prometrium for the next pregnancy, which ended with my lovely daughter; and the next, which ended with my darling son!) Once the placenta is formed, it makes its own hormones and takes over so your ovaries go off duty, so to speak. I only needed the pills through 12 weeks.
Hope this helps!
