Hi Moms -
I have several years' worth of Parents Magazine, as well as some Better Homes and Gardens and Family Circle. I would like to find a place to donate them, rather than just throwing them in the recycling bin (i will be saving a few to do crafts projects in the future). These are not library-condition magazines, so I won't take them there. Does any one know a place in Los Angeles that could use and would actually take these types of magazines?

I teach high school, and we always need them for projects, too. You could call a local school (elementary, junior high, or high school would probably be happy to have them), and ask them if they want them. :)
Preschools and daycares! They use the pictures for collages and other crafts. Call around, I'm sure you will find at least one to take your magazines!
Our local nursing home LOVES to get magazines!
The condition or age doesn't matter--they use a lot of them for craft projects.
hospitals, Dr offices, waiting rooms at the clinic, schools for crafts, craigslist, someone is always asking for them. or recycle center.

Thought I'd throw one more out there....local Boys and Girls Club.
The Topanga Women's Circle! They go into transitional homes for homeless families and mothers and completely decorate the apartments. One thing they always like to leave are nice magazines on the coffee tables. Are you familiar with where Topanga, CA is? If so, the drop off is up there in the main center.
My optometrist takes them. Try yours.

Waiting room for the doctor (call first)
I save a few for my sister to read after me (the ones she's interested in).
Call your local vet (for the waiting room).
How about taking the Parents magazines to your local children's hospital? The parents of sick children may find the magazine useful for distractions, and sometimes Parents has some great crafts for the kids to do.
You could take the others to local ER's. There are NEVER enough good magazines in the waiting rooms.
My Doctors office loves old magazines.
Our school LOVES them for projects as did our day care when we used a day care.
I usually leave my old magazines at the local laundromat...about the most boring place there is to be stuck in, and there are lots of moms who would appreciate the distraction while they wait!
