My family recently moved to Rosemount and we're in search of a pediatrician for our 1-year-old daughter. If you have any recommendations for doctors in the Rosemount/Apple Valley area, please let me know. Also, any recommendations for a good OB/GYN doctor in the area would be appreciated as well.

What can I do next?

I HIGHLY recommend Southdale Pediatrics in Burnsville! About a 15 minute drive but well worth it! My daughter sees Dr. Lisa Oie but I'd recommend any of them. You can go there a few times, see a few different doctors and pick the one you think fits you best. Sometimes the wait in the office can get a bit long but the doctors are worth the wait too! I'm a pediatric nurse at Children's Hospital so I work with a lot of the SD Peds doctors both on a personal and professional level. I won't bring my daughter anywhere else!
I see Deb Haqq at Quello Clinic in Burnsville for my OB/GYN stuff (and everything else too!). She's a Certified Nurse Midwife and I think she's great! She's a great listener and is willing to try your suggestions in treatments.
Let me know if you want any more info--I'm happy to share!

I agree with the Southdale Peds recommendation and the OB GYN specialists (Drs Colwell & Shibley - both males). As a bonus, Dr Shibley is attractive and tells you how beautiful you are when you feel like a cow. It sure is nice to hear that from someone who's not required to say it!! I can't say that I would recommend Dr Larson (also with OB/GYN specialists). Fortunately, you can schedule appointments with whoever you want there.

I live in Rosemount, too. If you are willing to go to Burnsville, there are two that I recommend. Both are close to Fairview Ridges Hospital. If you take McAndrews over there, it's about 20 minutes or so.

OB/GYN Specialists is excellent. I especially like Drs. Colwell and Shibley.

Burnsville Family Physicians has 6 general practitioners, all excellent. The females are Dr. Sterner, Dr. Johnson, and Dr. Scherf. The males are Dr. Clark., Dr. Rhoades, and Dr. Magnuson. My daughters and I see Dr. Sterner, and my husband sees Dr. Magnuson.

Good luck!

Dakota Pediatrics in Lakeville is really great. It is located in the same area as the Lakeville Cub, off of Cedar and Dodd (I think it's Dodd). Their wait room is kid-oriented, and the wait is really short. Rachel Herman, a nurse practitioner is our favorite. She is never rushed and very thorough.

I use Southdale OBGYN in Burnsville. So far, I've really been pleased, but my favorite midwife is leaving the practice. I've seen most of the other doctors and have no complaints.

I highly recommend Southdale Peds in Burnsville. They are a great group of doctors and my son has responded positively to all he has seen. We do have a primary physican and we see her for all wellness visits but if there is an ocassion when we need to get in for a sick appt, we've seen other doctors and been very pleased. We were just there last night and saw Dr Coch. He was wonderful and really engaged with my son, asked him specifics about how he was feeling in terms he could understand. (my son will be three next month) The nurse line is fabulous too! The first time my son was throwing up sick, I called them four times over two hours and they walked me through what to do, how long to wait before giving him liquid, what foods to start with, etc.

Best of all, they have great hours for working parents. They take sick appts Mon-Thurs evening and Sat morning. Great if you child is healthy too as it keeps much of the sick germs/kids in one chunk of time and you schedule around that.

I've been very pleased with this group!
