Has any one had any experience with Dr. Autumn Hurd or Dr Patra Watana? My son was referred to Dr. Hurd's office, and actually saw one of the other dentists in the office, Dr. Kelsey. He needs a lot of work, and will need to be put under general anesthesia for it. I'm thinking of getting a second opinion from Dr. Watatna. I'm looking for personal experience, good or bad, from either of these pediatric dentists. Thank you!
I have a new question now. Now that I know the cost of the work, I am going to try an "in network" provider. Anyone have any experience with Bryan Savage, Patra Watana, or Andrew Weisenfeld?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

thanks everyone. I got a recommendation from a friend, and made an apt for a second opinion with Dr. Seirk (I know, he wasn't even on the list of dentists we were considering. long story). That is in 2 weeks.

I don't know about those doctors, but we love Drs. Barb and Nick Moyer, in case you don't get other recommendations. They were my dentists as a kid and now do my kids. Our boys both love them. GL! Sorry to hear the need for so much work.

We see Dr. Autumn and my then 3 year old daughter needed a cap on a tooth with a soft spot. She was terrified and they were fantastic! They were calm, gentle, firm, and unwaivering in what they needed from her. My daughter cried the whole time but thanked them when they were all done. Don't know about the in/out of network thing...I know for ours the cost difference isn't that different for most routine things.

We went to Dr. Autumn for several years and loved her and her staff. A wonderful dentist, and a mom, too. I really felt like she connected with my kids and was warm and professional. We left her office so we could see a family dentist and good friend at a different practice, but we were very sad to leave Dr. Autumn!

My son was a patient at Dr. Hurd's office a couple of years ago. I thought that the staff was very nice, but EVERY time we went in for his 6 month cleaning, he had a cavity or two, and I know that some kids get a lot, but we floss EVERY day and brush REALLY well at least twice a day.
The last cavity that we were told he had there was when I decided to get another opinion since he had so many and so I took my son to our family dentist for another opinion, and it was not anything we had to fill.
With that said, it doesn't hurt to get another opinion especially if there's a lot of work to do. Good luck!

Dr. Bryan is awesome! I took my 4 year old son there last summer. It was his first-ever appt (I'd been a bit of a slacker) so he was a little nervous. Dr. Bryan was so great about talking to him about everything first and letting me sit with him on the chair so he wasn't scared.

The appt. was great, we got a clean report & some info about how to keep it that way. And my son came away from it with such a great, positive attitude! :)
