Hi moms,
Just wondering if any of you have ever been to "Carrollwood OBGYN" and if so, what are your opinions of the staff/doctors? I'm looking for a new doctor, one who has a great bedside manner and who specializes in high risk pregnancies..I'm doing some family planning right now and have not had very good luck with doctors. Any advice would be appreciated..Thanks!

What can I do next?

I have been to their office in Westchase and would highly recommend them, especially Dr. Bevilacqua & Dr. Matthews (if you don't mind a man). There are two other female Drs. who you would see as well during a pregnancy. They are younger and not as thorough in my opinion but still very nice. I have heard other good opinions of them too but I still prefer the first two I mentioned. (You can pick whomever if it's just a routine checkup). These Drs. also work in the N. Dale Mabry office. I had a twin pregnancy and they took care of everything unless I required specialized testing.

Just editing in response to Erin S...I too had my first child with them and was NOT happy with the Dr. who performed the delivery. This was over 6 yrs. ago. That Dr. no longer does deliveries. I stayed with them though because I was happy with alll the other Drs. and really liked Dr. B. I requested not to ever see the other Dr. again and I was told very quietly that other people had requested the same thing and that he would be "retiring" from deliveries soon. Perhaps Erin had the same Dr? Part of the problem was the nurse on duty at the time too. I have never had issues with any other Dr. there though. Even the hospital staff at St. Joe's all knew Dr. B and spoke highly of her.

I would highly recommend them. Dr. Bevilaqua is AWESOME and Dr. Matthews is great too. I don't care much for the other doctors in the practice. They just don't have as good of a bed side manner.

I went to the Westchase office and I liked Dr. Bevilacqua and Dr. Roberts. Did not care for Dr. Matthews. Maybe because he was the on call doctor delivery night and well, let's just say I was not happy with him.

I had my first kid there and I DO NOT LIKE THEM!! they have an aweful bedside mannor and the dr.s are not friendly at all. It was not a great experience. They sent me home with very little info on what was coming or what to do. They do not answer messages in a timely mannor...I asked not to be cut, and they did it before I was eving pushing... I was very mad... I will be more then willing to share anything else you need to know.

Hi, I've been a patient of carrollwood ob/gyn for the last 6 years and they have delivered all 3 of my daughters. The staff there are wonderful and the doctors are awesome. My favorite is dr bevilacqua who has always been very supportive in all of my pregnancies and decisions! I would recommend this group to anyone and even have had family members switched and they are very happy!! Good luck!

Just an addition to my response...my first daughter was delivered by dr levitt whonis no longer in the practice since he's retired. Some people thought of him as rude but I didn't, he never sugar coated what was happening and when I had an awful delivery due to epidurals not working and a BIG baby he was there for me and saved my life (I wouldn't stop bleeding when he was suturing and he noticed right away and took me into emergency surgery.) I'm not a fan of dr matthews as much as the other ladies, but he was always pleasant. Dr roberts delivered my 3rd daughter and was absolutely the best. The other new dr I won't mention because she irritated me during my last pregnancy but that may have been the hormones :)

I agree 100% with Heather. I've been a patient of Dr. Matthews for 7 years and he is absolutely wonderful. I had a c-section 2 1/2 years ago and he did a great job. He also happened to be on call most of the time I was in the hospital and he took care of a problem I was having with the nurses with the snap of a finger. During my pregnancies (I have 2 children), I got to know Dr. Bevilaqua, too, and she is terrific. I don't know the newer doctors as well, but I do have some friends that like Dr. Roberts a lot.

I go to the Westchase office, but have been to the office in Carrollwood, too. Both are clean and nice. Westchase is a little smaller, but either way, I think you are fine. Just go to whichever is more convenient.
