OBGYN Recommendation in Plano

My current OBGYN, Dr. Katrina Walsh at Med. Center of Plano, does not take my new insurance(Great West Healthcare). I am soooooo sad about this because I love Dr. Walsh and she delivered my first child, a daughter, so I have history with her. I had wanted to stay with her and have her deliver my second(when that happens...not preggo yet), but I don't think this will be possible. It's a savings of about $1500.00 if I go to an in-network doctor vs. going to Dr. Walsh(out of network). If I go to her for my yearly, I have to pay out-of-pocket and then get re-imbursed by my insurance. So, I guess it would be wize of me to find someone else otherwise I am not getting the full benefits I am paying for. Has anyone ever gone to Dr. Erin Koster? Or Dr. Dawn Bankston Troiani? Dr. Walsh's office recommended these two doctors. I am looking for someone sweet, down-to-earth, a good listener and a doctor who doesn't rush in and out. Dr. Walsh had all these qualities so I am looking to find someone like her.

Thanks!

I appreciate everyone's advice. I do prefer to go to a female doctor(just a personal preference), so if anyone knows anything about these two doctors or another female, I'd appreciate it! I love Dr. Walsh so much that I may just pay the out-of-network to stay with her. At least my ins. co. would pay 70% in that case.

I go to Dr. Joseph Leveno - he is in a suite attached to the Med Center of Plano with Dr. Keith Reissler. Dr. Leveno is great - he delivered both my kids and he is young - 38 years old with two smaill kids so he totally relates to you.

Hi,

I also see Dr. Walsh. I think she is the most wonderful Dr!! I had the same insurance issue as you and did not find someone I was as comfortable with and just paid the extra. It was worth it to me to stay with a fantastic DR. However, if you need to change dr.s, I am not familiar with the 2 that you lised, although if Dr. Walshes office recommended them, they are probably fine, but a friend goes to another OBGYN in the same building as Dr. Walsh. I can't remember her name, but she is on the 2nd floor and she really liked her.

Good luck

I see Dr. Eric Jacoby at Medical Center of Plano and love him. If you are willing to see a male doctor he is great. I have seen him for almost 10 years and he just delivered my first son in February. Even when I went to college I would come back to Plano for my yearly appointment with him. I can't recommend him enough.

Hi N.,
I see Dr. Gary Duncan located right next to the Medical Center of Plano and my husband and I think he is terrific. He does not rush you, makes sure you have all your questions answered, he's thorough, is reassuring, you name it. His office staff is incredibly nice. And his nurse, Rene, is absolutely the best. I wish he was the doctor I saw for any health issue. Another great attribute is how flexible they are. I had a couple of incidents where they stayed open so that I could make it there from work at the end of the day. I really can't say enough good things about him and his staff.

I'm sorry you are having to leave--that has to be rough. I absolutely adore my Dr. His name is Steven MacDonald and he is Presby Plano. I dont know if you wanted to stay at Medical Center Plano but if you would like his info at Presby Plano, I would be more than happy to pass it along. He is sweet, caring, soft spoken, honest and just such a sweet guy!! I LOVE him--he delivered my twins and will deliver my other children too without a doubt!! :) E.

I see Jeanean Carter, a certified mid-wife, with Craig Ranch OB/GYN. She delivers at Medical Center of McKinney & Presby Allen. Jeanean delivered by 2nd daughter & we had a very positive experience. My older daughter (who was 2 when I got pregnant) went to every appointment with me & absolutely loves Ms. Jeanean. She is very open & honest and will give her personal opinion (not a medical one) if you want it. She has 3 daughters who are in high school. I am pregnant with my 3rd & excited to see her again.

If you are not comfortable with a mid-wife, a female doctor in the practice that alot of people recommend is Dr. Shea Joyner. She has a wonderful bedside manner & has 2 young kids herself. In addition, Dr. Joyner can deliver at Centennial Medical Center.

They have a brand new facility located at 121 between Alma & Custer. The practice website is http://craigranchobgyn.com/home.

Best of luck!

C.

Hi,

I second Erica's recommendation of Dr. MacDonald at Presby Plano.
He is absolutely wonderful! He has delivered all three of my babies- 3 1/2, 2 1/2 and 6 months, and we just adore him!!
He is just incredibly kind and patient, and he makes you feel like you are his only patient.
