So I know this question has been addressed a million times and I am just another mom trying to work my way through to a cure for my son who has now had Molluscum spreading all over his body for over two years as we waited per our pediatrician for it to pass. Well it is not and now despite our best efforts it has passed to our 4 year old daughter. Over this year my son has been in the hospital once for an undiagnosed virus that resulted in a terrible auto-immune resonse requiring 6 days in a children's hospital and just recently he underwent endoscopic sinus surgery. Bottom line, we have met our 6,000$ individual deductible for him. The only derm I know is aggressive about treating the condition as opposed to my ped who wants us to wait it out but their methods are too severe. Im looking for a physicians guidance on alternative treatments like clove oil or other topical agents. I am in Peoria AZ but willing to travel the valley. I just cant imagine that I will be forced to depend on Google as my medical resource. There must be physicians covered by BCBS that use alternative therapies. PLease any advice is appreciated!

What can I do next?

Hi C.,
so, first a couple words of caution. Tee trea oil is a natural healing remedy, but can burn the skin. it really shouldn't be used strait. cut it with almond oil. try 10 parts almond oil to 1 part tea tree to start. go stronger 5/1 if he tolerates it. second, hydrocortizone cream is a steroid. if you use it too much, it will convince your body not to produce it's own because its not needed. and finally, all of these "solutions" deal with the surface problem: dermatitis, excema, molluscum, etc. the real problem may be a food allergy. most common skin conditions are caused by an allergy to wheat or corn. try eliminating corn and corn products from his diet first. if that alone is unsuccessful, try eliminating wheat also. See Dr. Mercola's site for more info. Best wishes! K.

Have you tried straight tea tree oil? It was like a miracle cure for us.

My son had this for years on his arm. He also ended up with eczema on the same spot so it looked really bad. He is fourteen now and it is finally gone. This summer I got really aggressive with his treatment and I couldn't believe that it finally cleared up. Here is what we did:

Three times a day we would use a q-tip and dip it in apple cider vinegar and dab all the spots, blow on it to dry it up and then spray it with Dr. Wheatgrass spray. The ACV didn't hurt and neither did the spray. I also went to a health food store and got a good multi vitamin for him to help increase his immune system. It took about 2.5 months but it is finally gone. Below is the link for the spray, you can also find it on Amazon. We only used one bottle the whole time and still have some leftover but it was only on one area of his arm.

I hope this helps you. Good luck!

Oh my gosh! I can help you (I'm so excited). I posted this same question in Feb and got many responses. This is what worked for us...I used Jenny J's suggesion of "...a mixture of hydrocortisone, zinc oxide (just use some diaper cream), benedryl anti-itch cream, and vaseline (just mix all together in a small [(I used a small tupperware container)]. Apply to skin [with a Q-tip] and it really helps." and it worked like a charm. I just recently saw a bump on my son's leg (they were all cleared up from the above mixture) and immediately started putting the above mixture on it again. Feel free to look at my posts and you can find all the resonses I got, I posted my question in Feb 2012. Good luck. These things are a pain in the butt.

Feel free to send me a message for my phone number if you want to call.

Ask your pediatrician about any and all treatments available so that you can make an informed decision. He or she may want you to wait but can and should give you other options and answer any questions you have. Once you know what treatments are available you can start to search for a practitioner of the same that is covered by your insurance. Good luck.

Both of my children had these. DD had them really bad, and we tried everything in the book to get rid of them . About a year into it, our pediatrician finally prescribed a cream that is used for venerial warts. The name of it was Aldara. She was cleared up in less than 2 weeks. No pain, no discomfort. The pediatrician prescribed the same cream when ds got them a year later. Gone in days.
