Need 1 Good OB in Marion/Cedar Rapids Area

I am expecting my second child and am having a hard time finding an OB office that I like. I am currently signed up with OBGYN associates but hate the fact that you have to see all of the Doctors there while you are pregnant and hate that I do not know who will deliver my baby when it is time.

Does anyone know of an office that is associated with St. Lukes where I can use 1 Doctor maybe 2.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all of the information. I have switched to Linn County OB GYN.

I was a patient of Dr. Paul Pickering who works with the Lynn County OBGYN. I really appreciated his friendly, yet professional manner. He remembered things about me that weren't on my chart, and he seemed to always have time for my questions. There are two other OBs in the office, Dr. James Rexroth and Dr. Tom Getta. I had one scheduled appointment with each of the other doctors throughout my pregnancy. All 3 doctors work with either St. Luke's or Mercy. There still remains the chance that your main doctor won't be available for the delivery (Dr. Getta delivered my son), but at least it narrows down the options! Good luck!

There is another office, Linn County Ob/Gyn located on Third Avenue. I am sure that they deliver to either hospital. I am with The same office you are so I don't personally know the docs I am referencing but I have heard good things about them. I have also met Dr. Getta and liked him as well. But that was in pre-pregnancy class not a clinical setting. Wish I could help you more. I had a c-section so I was lucky to be able to schedule my dr. to do the C. Good Luck to you!

I LOVE Dr Rexroth at LinnCounty OBGYN. His nursing staff is great. The office is always running behind schedule but I am okay with that considering I know that he always makes the time to answer all your questions, even if it means the next family waits. I never really hear people complain about the wait time, we all expect it and accept it because we know he cares. He is very straight forward and will never leaving you wondering.

Hi D.,

I am also using OB-GYN in Cedar Rapids and my doctor (Joy Olson) gave me the option to either stick with her throughout the process or rotate through the other doctors. Since I figured that I wouldn't care who actually delivered the baby once I'm in labor, I told her that I would prefer to just stick with her throughout the appointments and take my chances that she may or may not be the one delivering. If your doctor has not already offered, you should definitely talk to them because I know that OB-GYN offers the option to keep your doctor throughout.

Hi Danielle,

I am with OBGYN Associates and I have Dr. Lisa Hess. Who I love, but she's affiliated with Mercy - but will deliver at either hospital. She was great while I was pregnant and now with my normal OB appts. I had another doctor once maybe twice because in the third trimester I had to go weekly because of gestational diabetes. She also was able to schedule me to be induced on the weekend that she was on call. Good luck!
