Seeking Suggestions for a New OB/GYN

I currently live in the St. Charles area, but am totally willing to travel to see a GREAT OB. My husband and I are trying to concieve baby #2 and I have a gut feeling that this month is our month. So, I am shopping for an OB. My dilemma is that I HATED my OB for my son. He made me feel HORRIBLE for gaining an extra 10 pounds while I was pregnant, then forced me to have a C-Section. I would LOVE to go for a VBAC this time and possibly a female OB instead of a male. I am hoping to deliver at either Barnes Jewish St Peters or Missouri Baptist, which is where I had my son. I will have Medicaid/Healthcare USA, if that makes a difference. I have a book for them, but it is SO overwhelming looking at all the names and not knowing where to even start. Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

I will agree with Linda F and say ditto to all it about Dr. Pearse and Dr. Silber. I had both of my children at St. Lukes with Dr. Carlton Pearse.
Good Luck to you!!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Dr. Jeff Thompson Obsterical Associates, he accepts Medicaid, he is on St. Louis Top Doctors according to St. Louis magazine and understandably so. He has incredible bedside manor and he is smart and compasionate. He is devoted to his patients and an advocate for the patients rights. Even if he is staffed at the hospital that you deliver and you are unhappy he stands up for you (this happened w/ my sister) I have refered him to ALL of my friends and my family and they all have the same wonderful reactions to the way that he practices (my mom even left her OB that delivered all of us and now goes to him) He has an office in Winghaven and at St. Lukes (314)_###-###-####. I wish he could be my General Practitioner, he has helped me and answered questions for me reguarding non OB related issues and he gives all sides of options you have. Good Luck choosing, I know it is a hard and personal decision.

I saw Dr.Janet Matuszek when I was 18 and then we moved away and I recently decided to go back to her. I really liked her and I've seen lots of people recommend her.

I also really liked Genesis ob's. I switched from them because they closed their St.Peters office, but I would definitely recommend them also.

Dr Joseph Herrmann in st. John's Mercy # ###-###-####

He is WONDERFUL, tell him T. Clemons referred you.

He delivered my son and he let me be so much a part of the delivery it was amazing, I mean I got to pull my son out and up on my chest and was literally the first person to hold him after his birth. No doctors or nurses held him straight out of the womb it was just me and I feel an incredible bond with him!

He was straight and to the point and very personable. He has 7 kids of his own too!

I see someone recommended Dr. Pearse and I went to him with my middle daughter and after the first visit I NEVER WENT BACK, he had HORRIBLE bed side manners and was not sanitary or comforting in any way shape or form. From my experience, he did a intravaginal ultrasound with NO GLOVES, then when he couldn't see anything he told me that I should come back in a couple weeks because it looked like my baby was dead!!! I had my first tests including my US at Pregnancy Resource center, when I went to him I was only 5 weeks pregnant, he had scared me so badly I went to another doctor that same day and in fact my baby was fine, had a strong heartbeat and all. He was just to lazy to hook up monitors and unjustly said the wrong thing! He was a horrible doctor!!!!

MY doctor is amazing. I am a nurse and currently looking into working in his office and that was one of my questions was would I still be able to be patient of his. MY first OB was a woman and I was very young and I did not care for her. My second was amazing. Dr. Lieberman is at DePaul Hospital at Gateway OB-GYN <###-###-####> and there are two other docs in his practice with him - a woman who I haven't met and is fairly new, and another man who actually was there while my doc was out when I had my son. I gained almost 60 lbs with my son and he always said my wt was fine. I am young and healthy to begin with so I don't know if that is a factor in wt gain during pregnancy. I actually started seeing him for gyn probs and he has been amazing through the whole thing and always explaining everything. I know he delivers at DePaul and St. Mary's. I don't know if he goes elsewhere because my insurance wouldn't cover anywhere else.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Good Luck!

Hi J.. I would highly recommend my OB/GYN. Her name is Dr. Janet Matusek and she has an office in St. Peters by Barnes-Jewish West (off Mexico near Jungermann). Her number is ###-###-####. I wasn't thrilled with an old OB/GYN so I switched to her during my pregnancy and she was wonderful. I don't see her much anymore since that was my last pregnancy and I tend to see her Nurse Practitioner (Julie Schwitzer --spelling?) for annual exams. Julie is great, too. I've been really happy with both of them. Good luck getting pregnant!!

I loved the OBGYN practice out of St. John's. My own OBGYN had to quit due to illness, but I've seen two others there, Dr. Walsh and Dr. Rice. Both are women and both are great - very kind and gentle. My OB delivered my first three babies and I thought she was the greatest ever. Then Dr. Walsh delivered my fourth and she was far better than my own OB! They are definitely friendly and understanding and put you and your baby first.

I love my OB/GYN!!! Her name is Dr. Julie Gould and she is with Women's Health Associates on Ballas. I had a miscarriage with my first pregnancy last year and she was so kind and caring. We just had our first son last month and I couldn't have asked for better care during my pregnancy. She willing sat through my milliions of questions and concerns. Dr. Gould has never harrassed me about my weight and when we came to the end of the pregnancy and realized that a C-section was going to be the best option for a healthy delivery, she really took the time to explain why and to understand my disappointment. She is all for VBAC if possible the next time around.

She and her staff are great. She delivers primarily at St. John's I believe, but I think she also does it at MO Baptist. I also want to put in a good word for St. John's. I know this was my first pregnancy, but I was so well taken care of there! Good Luck!

I absolutely LOVE my OB! He is incredible! I have 2 boys and he was wonderful through both pregnancies. When my husband met him for the first time he said there was no one he would rather have deliver our children! He proved how phenominal he is lately to us when we had 2 miscarriages in the last year. He was so compassoinate and caring through them and has gone out of his way to try and find out why it happened and make sure it doesn't happen again. His name is Dr. Fred Durer and he has 2 offices, one in O'Fallon and one at St. Lukes. I also live in St. Charles and they are very easy and convenient to get to. He can deliver at Mo Bap, St. Lukes (i had my first son here and they were wonderful), Progress West and St. John's. His # at the St. Lukes office is ###-###-####. There are 2 other docs in the office that are also fabulous, Dr. Carlton Pearse and Dr. Karen Voegtle.
I think one of the best things about this group is, when i would call the office with a question (even if it was a ridiculous question) the doctor would either get on the phone or call you back personally. Not one of the nurses. They treat their patients like they are their friends. That means a lot to me!

Carlton Pearse, MD is a fantastic OB/GYN. He has several offices, inluding one in the St. Charles area. As info, he is the head of the OB/GYN department at St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield, MO. Dr. Pearse has a wonderful bedside manner, is a loving husband and parent and has an equally great support staff. The staff will be able to tell you which hospitals he has rights to, and whether your insurance situation works. Also on staff at St. Luke's is world-famous Dr. Sherman Silber, so if you have issues conceiving, he is considered the #1 Dr. in the world for infertility issues. May you have a wonderful pregnancy. As info, Dr. Pearse is very prudent and would not allow my request to have a C-section for my second child, so having a safe, vaginal birth is his high priority.

I LOVE my OB his name is Dr. David Super and he is Super!! he works in a practice and there are two other OB/GYNs that are fantastic also that I've met with. Dr. Glass and Dr. Hugge. Dr.Hugge is a female and Dr.Glass is a male. They are younger doctors that have a really great bedside manner and an even more fantastic approach to patient care. The best part is you'll never have to drive anywhere to give blood or have your ultrasound done because they have thier own in house phlebotomist and ultrasound technician. I'm going to paste thier office information here so you can contact them. Just tell them Rainbow referred you. 9701 Landmark Parkway Dr # 207, Saint Louis, MO 63127-1665, United States (Map)

My Daughter In Law went to Physician - Voegtle M.D., Karen - also one of the girls in my office went there. and she has had a few children herself, and is very understandable about weight gain, and what a female goes through during a pregnancy. She is out of St Luke's Hospital on Woods Mill Road, but I went with her to most of her apts, and she was very nice. honestly..

A couple other people have mentioned her, but Dr. Janet Matuszek delivered my second daughter. I absolutely LOVE her. The staff is wonderful, Julie (her nurse practictioner) is fabulous, and the office staff are super nice and really work with you and your schedule.

She delivers at Mo Bap and St. Luke's in Chesterfield. I delivered at St. Luke's and loved it. I've also heard only great things about MO Bap.

She has two offices. One office is right off of Mexico Rd near the Rec Plex in St. Peters. I'm not sure where the other office is.

Someone here (Tara C) has already recommended my doc, Dr. Herrmann. I totally agree with her! He is fantastic.

He is so easy going, yet completely concerned. He made my husband feel at ease and included him the entire process, encouraging him to be involved. St. John's is also a very good hospital.

I didn't self-deliver either of my kids like Tara...I had very two very difficult pregnancies and deliveries. I felt like Dr. Herrmann had everything under control because he always takes the time to make sure you're okay on all levels.

His staff is amazing, too. I drove thirty miles, past five hospitals, to get to Dr. Herrmann! I have also referred my two younger sisters to him (who are 11 years younger and both in college, so he's their first Gyn.); they both think that he is fantastic and refuse to find doctors in their college towns.
