I have a two year daughter, Very active. The other night after bathing and getting ready for night time I notice on her right foot in between her two toes look like she had blisters or dry skin peeling. She wears clean socks every day and she bathes everynight. She does not wear shoes all day and the ones she does wear seem to fit O.K. What could cause the problem on her foot? Should I put any cream or powder on it? She does not act like it hurts to much but she does know it is there.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well Friends, My little girl age two with athletes foot is getting better. I took the advice on putting on some cream, drying the feet real good and changing the shoes and yes also went to white socks. Her feet are looking better so I hope I can keep it under control. I know with warm weather here I know she will be wearing sandels alot, let alone no shoes at times. So I hope we can stay on top of it! Thanks!!

I'm a mommy of 4 and it sounds to me like it may be this common virus called "hand, foot, mouth". If this is what she has you just have to look closely at her hands, feet and the inside of her mouth you may actually see other little red dots or small blisters. It's very contagious but it isn't dangerous. In fact my kids have had some very mild cases of it. The doctor just recommends lots of fluids and tylenol for any pain or discomfort. Good luck!

are you making sure to dry between her toes real good after baths? use pelsnaptha soap & phisoderm lotion, I used those to cure athlete's foot on my family when we lived in Louisiana for 6 months

Does anyone else have athlete's foot in your house or does any other family members living outside of your house have it? When I was little I had athlete's foot from my brother...mainly because I would play dress up with his shoes! But athlete's foot is pretty common and can go from person to person. But wearing white cotton socks or no socks at all is a really good step to decreasing the blisters and irritation. I found this link to the APMA sbout athlete's foot. I hope this helps. http://www.apma.org/s_apma/doc.asp?CID=146&DID=9386

It just may be athletes foot. Just put cream on it and have her keep her feet dry and have her keep lotion on them. It may be her shoes and maybe her socks. My daughter had the same thing except the blisters....when you wash her socks...use hot water and add bleach to them, make sure her socks are white cotton socks at all times and no colored socks...the color socks keeps in moisture and can cause it. Make sure her shoes are breathable. One thing I was taught by drs is girls are always supposed to wear white cotton undies and white cotton socks.

My daughters feet are just naturally very sweaty. When we went to a normal checkup when she was a baby we asked the doctor about it because they were always smelly and sometimes got gross between the toes to the point them would peel. He said that is just her, and to let her be barefoot as much as possibe. It's hard to do in the winter, but her feet need to breath. So now that she's older, it will occasionally get like that in the winter, but in the summer when she is barefoot more she almost never gets that way. So maybe she is similar? Ask your doctor.

R. it could be she is not drying in between her toes. I would try to make sure they are dry. And maybe some baby powder might do a good job. I am just suggesting. If it does not clear up I would see your family doctor. It could be also the dirty water lays in between her toes too. They might need some extra attention in cleaning and drying.

Kids pick up the darndest things don't they? It probably is athletes foot...who knows how or why she got it...my 4 year old has the same problem from time to time. Take her to the doctor and have him take a look at it just to be sure and he'll tell you the best thing to use on it.

It could be a number of things probably the best bet is taking her to the doctor and letting her have a look at it. If it isn't bothering her you could put medicated powder on her feet to help keep them dry and sooth any possbile itching that might happen until you can get to the doctor. I myself had something similar as a child in between my toes would get raw and start peeling like dry skin, it turned out I was allergic to the glue in my shoes, the medicated powder helped and switching shoes cleared it up.
Good luck!

I had the same problem as a kid and it took me many years to figure out that the majority of my problem were my finger and toe nails not being cut properly.

I would get patches of skin worn away in my palms and on my toes and soles of my feet for no reason and it looked very much like athletes foot but nothing really made it better (but I'm sure it helped prevent more infection).

I now have to keep certain fingernails and just about all of my toenails cut almost below the top of the skin to make sure that I don't rub my feet against my toes and rip the skin off.

Try checking the toenails on top of what the dr says and look for the corners of the toenails to be sharp if you happen to cut them straight across. That could be part of the issue.

Best wishes.
