I'm pretty lucky that right now my biggest conundrum is what color rain boots should I buy? It's my first pair and I will only own 1 pair since it doesn't rain much here but when it does, it can rain a lot ! I pick up my kids from school and I have to walk to the gate, etc so I I want a waterproof boot to slosh in.
I mostly buy black shoes because they go with everything. I'm a low-key, casual, SAHM, so don't need anything to wear to the "office". I love all colors though from dark and deep, to neutrals and naturals, to bright and cheery colors. In the good ol' days, before kids, heck, instead of making a choice, I would just buy 2! I can't afford to do that anymore. So here are my choices--all in a *shiny* kinda polyurethane material:
Patent black, bright yellow, pretty-lavender-purple color or, last but not least, a deep purple.

I waited and some of the really cute ones got snagged. Of course it's now raining here. The purple ones I wanted got snagged. I tried a different brand but they didn't fit as well. I ended up buying red ones and they are comfy too. I think I may buy another fun pair though. Thanks!
Patent blacks is pretty, to me, and will match whatever you wear. (Now, had red been an option, I would've chose that...:)
I vote deep purple! I think that they will be fun because they are colorful, but they are more practical than the lavender ones because they will look nicer with the majority of colors you would wear during the rainy season.
i'm so practical it's nauseating. but for a fun item like rainbooks i woudl go with the dark purple, mostly responsible and practical but a little crazy too.
Deep Purple, that sounds really pretty! And if they stand out then Good! It is always a good idea to step out side of your norm once in a while. :P
pretty lavendar purple :) you are not going to wear them often, and more than likely just thowing them on for the pick up. Have a little fun with them :) I have rain boots that are burberry pattern, I wear them maybe 2-3 times a year if i know im going to be walking in rain or mud, or going out in the snow. Sometimes my daughter and I puddle jump, and I like the fun pattern.
shiny black is the most practical if you don't feel like a fisherman in them. If you are the type of person that won't feel comfortable in a color and never wear them then don't buy a color, but........
Personally I like the sound of deep purple.
I vote for either shade of purple only because purple is my favorite color.

I would go w/ black or deep purple...lighter colors show dirt and stains more.
Personally, I think rain boots are crazy fun and should be crazy fun colors also. One of my friends has these over the top bright blue paisley ones and I am seriously coveting some with multi-colored peace signs all over them.
So, I vote for one of the purples (being that is *my* fav color).
Go crazy, buy colored ones and splash through the puddles with abandon.
You described the lavender purple as pretty, so I vote for that one! You also know you can't go wrong with black but on a rainy wet day why not wear something colorful?
It depends on what color family you mostly wear. If you are inclined towards browns, oranges, greens, offwhite, then you should get bright yellow. If you mostly wear cool jewel or pastel tones, then the lavendar purple color would be great. I'm guessing since you mostly do black shoes, that you wear cool colors, so you could to the lavender or dark purple easily. If its dreary and wet, you want rainboots that perk you up. If you can, go with bright red...it really does go with everything but the greenest greens.

I would go with the purple or lavender and get an umbrella to match. It will look really nice with a beige or off white jacket.

I would do the purple. As neutral as black is, it's just so overdone & boring. Go for something fun!
Deep purple! If you want to change the color sometimes, go a little crazy and stick on some adhesive colorful dots.....
I vote bright yellow. Sounds cheery and happy for those cloudy,grey,wet days. I love the brightly colored, fun printed ones you can find for kiddos.
