My mantra today:

"I love my kids. I love my kids. I love my kids..."

Boy are they pushing my buttons today... :)

So, what's YOUR mantra today?

What can I do next?

I have different mantras for different times.
PMS-ing: "It's not them, it's me. It's not them, it's me." Keeping reality in perspective at a time when my perspective is shot.

Visiting my crazy family: "It's not me, it's them. It has *nothing to do with me*."

Most other grumbly times: "Be happy to have what you have to be happy with." (It's a King Crimson song, but ever-appropriate)

Today is mantra-free. I'm getting to meet a girlfriend for a beer later this afternoon. :)

"Be still and know that I am God." I have several important things to get done before mid-July. Without this mantra I'd be rushing around and not focusing on finding priorities and focusing on one thing at a time. The mantra to me means there is a time and place for everything and that it all works out in the end.

"Everyone farts. It's natural. Everyone farts. It means she's eating healthfully."

One of my daughters is dropping bombs all over the place today and my house smells like a toilet. ::gag:: I keep telling her to fart in the bathroom and her response is to giggle.

EDIT: I'm laughing, because if I used some of the other mantras, I'd be gagging worse. I'm not going to "take a deep breath" for sure. It's definitely her, not me. My nose is not happy with what it has, and I blame God for giving me this nose and her digestive system to begin with. ;-) Luckily, it's NOT Winter and the windows are open.

Get a schedule. Give them jobs. Make them help with stuff and then plan a fun outing in the PM like going to the pool or something. Kids need a schedule so they know what to expect and have things expected of them. Use time out when they are not doing right or take away things if they are older. They also need clear boundaries. Think about what is each child weak in and needs improvement. Is it a character trait or is it multiplication? Have them practice it an hour a day. You are your child's main teacher. That is what real love is about. Teaching them how to be productive and enjoyable members of society.
