Low Cost Spay & Neuter Clinic

Hi Moms,

We put off getting our male cat neutered a little to long and I recently noticed he has sprayed in our closet.....
I need to get him neutered asap but am on a tight budget.
Can anyone refer me to a cheap spay & neuter clinic?
Also, now that he picked up the habit of "spraying", will the problem likely be solved once he's fixed? He's 1 1/2 yrs old.

Thanks for your help!! : )

What can I do next?

We used Pet Mobile (I-30/Beltline next to Kroger)for our two cats (both male) and a male dog that we also had at the time. The prices were pretty reasonable and they were well cared for. To get the two cats neutered and declawed it was less than $100. AS far as "spraying" it all depends on the cat. It does calm them but if he is already in the habit it is possible that he will continue.

This is the best deal around. They even have an area pickup service for a nominal fee. I take my pets there for shots and one was neutered there. Very kind, compassionate people. Just off of 175, on the service road. Good luck!

Neutering a male cat that is already spraying may not help correct the behavior. Unfortunately it is a learned behavior and most will continue to spray even after the procedure. If he continues to spray after neutering (give it time - it will take up to 6 months for the hormone testosterone to decrease in the body) you can try FeliWay diffusers and sprays. They can be a little pricey but I know of several cats that got a reprieve by not spraying.

As far as low cost spay and neuter clinics I recommend contacting Spay and Neuter Your Pets (SNYP) in the Dallas area. They have a list of clinics that they work with to offer low cost spaying and neutering. They send you a letter that the veterinarian signs and send into the organization. That way you get to pick a clinic and still pay a reasonable amount. Some clinics will offer services not covered by the coupon so you will want to ask when calling around. Also all facilities (clinics, shelters, humane societies) will require a minimum vaccination status and that is not covered by the coupon either.

I would also recommending SPCA for cat neuter but not for any other procedure. They tend to have a waiting list so you may just have to call.

We adopted a dog years ago and the SPCA directed us to this location. I think the neutering cost was covered in the adoption fee, but it seems like it was very reasonable. Good luck!

The SPCA is great for neuters, not so much for spays though. They are cheaper than a vets office. BUT if you need a good vet mine is the best. Dr. McKinney. ###-###-####. He's off of 635 and Ferguson/Centerville.
