My really long, fine textured, hair has been very tangly lately. I brush it throughout the day, often keep it braided, use conditioner, have deep conditioned it several times, but this is most snarly I've ever seen it. It even snarls while I am brushing it!
Can anyone recommend some really good products to help this problem? There are zillions of choices and you can waste a lot of money trying them, so I wanted to ask the ladies here: What do you use that keeps your hair soft and tangle free? And where do you get it?
(Please...no suggestions to cut my hair, I just had several inches cut and I like the present length.)

Infusium 23 leave in conditioner! I water it down in a spray bottle so it isn't really heavy. 1 bottle can last a while like that and it works!
I use the childrens Detangler from Kiss my Face. I just spray it on, and after a short while, I can comb right through like magic.
I use a product by "Ecoly" - it is their detangler conditioner, and it's great. There are also some products, including a leave in conditioner by "Motion".

I have naturally curly/wavy hair and I have always had issues with my hair getting tangled. I recently discovered "leave-in conditioner" and that has made a huge difference. I still get an occasional tangle, but the amount of tangles I have is considerably less.
Garnier (sp) 3 min conditioner and then a spray detangler for after the shower. Everything I buy is from Target, so nothing is over-priced. I have thick curly hair that looks like a bird's nest if I don't do anything to it. Hope it helps. ;)
I really like leave in conditoner/ detangler.. Infusium 23 in a silver bottle.. sold at almost any drug store/ target/ walmart.. I have used it since I was a kid.. I used to swim alot and this product really helped and is affordable :)

The spray on detangler for kids, like "No More Tangles," works for me. :)
There is a detangling spray in the children's section that works really well. We get the generic and it works really well with my daughter's half-curly half straight hair.
Hi,I use SILK. My hair is very curly and it is often hard to get a comb through after conditioning and towel drying. I put some SILK in my hands and run it my hair and it makes is very soft and silky. You can get it at salons, but Costco also sells it in a larger bottle for half the price.

Virgin Raw Coconut Oil, which can be found in health food stores, is a great hair treatment. It will make your hair oily for a day, but I notice visible results after that.
I do want to suggest that you look into your diet though. Maybe you are lacking in oils? This unhealthy change in your hair is probably the effect of your health. You could go as far as to have a blood test done to make sure your not deficient in anything. I'm just bringing it up because you are trying to fix your hair, but that is only a symptom of a problem. It won't completely go away unless you fix what is causing it in your body.

My friend has a daughter with EXTREMELY curly hair, and she uses a product by REDKIN. I don't which one, but I know it works really well.
I and my three daughters use BioSILK. I buy it at Costco (1/2 price from what the salon sells it for!). A little goes a L-O-N-G way! It smells terrific and really helps with the frizz. Good luck.
maybe it's the braiding? My roommate in college used to spray her hairbrush with static guard and then run it through her hair. She said it helped with the static and to keep it from getting tangled.
my hair isn't 'really long' anymore, but it still loves a good tangle. . . here's what works for me:
conditioner- I use the Pantene Pro-V Nourishing "moisture replenishing mask" in a tub - 7.6 oz. I use it every time I shampoo - even if I don't leave it on for as long as they recommend.
then, my 5 year old's Target/generic version of No-More-Tangles, or her Dove spray de-tangler. all afordable. Our daughter has fine, little girl hair that ends up in dreads if we don't keep on top of it. I let her 'do' my hair recently and now I use her product!
sounds like you have a lot of things to try from all the other responses -
Try the Brazilian Blow out. My stylist Danielle @ Londoner in Manhattan Beach gave me the Brazilian Blow Out a month ago and now my hair is straight and manageable. My hair was wild and unmanageable, hairs went in every direction. I LOVE it! Her number is ###-###-####.
I like to use a conditioner in the shower and a leave in. The leave in I like is Paul Mitchell, it is either the detangler, or the conditioner. The actual product is blue not yellow. Not sure which is which. LOL I like them both. I also like Agadir oil. It can be purchased at fine beauty supplies. It is pricey, but so worth it. I also have fine hair and if I use the wrong thing I rip tons of hair out. I like the Sexy Silky Hair product, Aveda, and Swarzkopf as well.
When my hair gets really long it does that too. How often do you trim. I have to do a small trim every six weeks because if one end splits it feels like my whole head goes!!! I use Frederick Fekkai and love it. There are a bunch of different kinds but I use the green one that makes your hair shiny. I use the shampoo, conditioner and a spray that you can use on wet or dry hair for added shine. It keeps my hair smooth and I don't have to brush it throughout the day a zillion times. I got it for my nieces with REALLY curly frizzy hair and it even makes their hair smoother! I swear it's magic. If they ever stop making it I think I'll have to just shave my head and get a crazy tattoo!! I buy it at Ulta beauty but Target just started selling it too. It is a little pricy but WELL worth the money. Hope it works for you too because it has made a big difference for me and people compliment my hair all the time even when I just let it dry all crazy and go!
I love Bio Silk, it is available at Costco. You only need a tiny bit.
I love Enjoy products and they work really well for me. They seem pricy, but you use so little each time and they really last. try the spray conditioner or the oil.
Infusium 23 works the best for me. But nothing works for all the tangels, but this helps sort them out :) You can get it at Rite aid or CVS or Target- Costco also has it I believe
Why would people suggest a hair cut!?! That is just silly! If you are like me I donate my hair to Locks of Love every so often (once it hits my thigh they take off 10 to 14 inches) and you need keep the hair nice so you can actually donate.
Well, as someone who moves often you might want to get your water checked. We have a high lime content in ours, which is REALLY h*** o* your hair. You might have to cut back on how often you wash, or get a hard water filter.

Another problem could be the shampoo and conditioner. I do the baking soda and vingar method of hair washing but this is mostly due to some very odd allergies to most products in the USA.

Suave: Professionals Sleek We use the shampoo, conditioner and anti frizz It is in an orange squeeze tube. Pretty cheap!
I get the big bottles of shampoo and conditioner for $3 ea
the anti frizz is about $2
You only need a little of that stuff and it goes a long way!

I use Suave detangle spray on my daughter's long hair and we braid at night. If I forget, the next morning is a snarly mess. I don't know why it wouldn't work for you. I know a couple of moms with long hair that also use it. Mine is short so no real tangles there.

Use what works for my kids -- they have fine, wavy/curly hair that gets super snarled. Johnson&Johnson no more tears spray-in detangler! No need to stop using it just because you're a few years north of the target demographic!
I would try getting the Brazilian Blowout treatment. It's expensive ($350) but will last you 3-4 months and your hair will be soft, silky, and shiney! Hello B.. I had the same problem. My solution lies in the conditioner I use. I have several favorites, and I switch them up so I don't get hair burn out, but one I love is a hydrating conditioner from Costco. It's their Kirkland brand, about $5.00 I think for a HUGE bottle, actually it's a two pack. It lasts forever. Another one I love is by Aussie and I believe it's called mega clean, or something similar. Sorry I don't have the exact name right now. The other thing I do is use a cream or a serum in my hair after I get out of the shower, after combing my hair, of course. I use an anti-frizz serum by Fantasia, or the green bottle of Sunsilk (another anti-frizz thing) or a product by Iso called Bouncy Cream. The Bouncy cream is pricier and I get it at the beauty supply. It runs about $22.00 or so but... it lasts me for a full year. I also like a product by Pantene that is a cream for hair, with a nozzle top, might be a leave in conditioner for all I know. Again, I'm sorry I don't know the exact name of it. There are several products I don't like, because they dry out my hair and make it worse, and one of them is anything from the Garnier Fructis line. There are plenty others but of course I can't think of any right now. One thing that also really helps is when I'm in the shower, after I put the conditioner on, I comb it through to get the tangles out. I always use the conditioner after I wash my face, so that it sits in my hair the entire time while I'm getting clean. I hope I've been able to provide some sort of help for you :) Good luck!!
