My husbands insurance just switched us from St Johns to Cox (Springfield). I have always used St Johns and have no idea who to use in the Cox network!! We are looking for a new pediatrician for our son. We also need a new general practitioner (or family dr), and I will need a new OB/GYN. I am looking for an advice, who to go to, who to avoid. I would prefer to stay on the south side of Springfield, but will consider any where! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What can I do next?

I don't actually live in Springfield so I can't really help with the pediatrician or family Dr. question, but I used Primrose OB/GYN when I had my son and loved the service there. It's located in the building just West of Cox South. I used Dr. Gary Walker and he was great. I've also had friends that went to him and felt the same way.

I use the following:
Ob/gyn: Dr. Marcus McCorcle - Primrose Ob/gyn
Family Practice: Dr. Rachel Hankins - Cox Family Medicine Associates
Pediatrician: Dr. Mai Vo - Pediatric Center (love her!)

I like all of these and would recommend them to anyone!

I don't have a primary care physician right now, so I don't have any suggestions for you for that. But I LOVE my ob (Dr. Lisa Powell @ Physicians for Women) and I LOVE my kids' pediatrician (Dr. Jessica Sears @ Pediatric Associates).

Cox is wonderful!
Pediatrician - Dr. Mai Vo at The Pediatric Center, or ANY available...they are all great!
OB/GYN - Dr. McCorcle or Dr. Walker at Primrose OB/GYN are WONDERFUL men who genuinely care about your health and well-being.
(I have a 12 month old wiggle worm who is extremely...vocal! lol)
Good luck!

We go to Dr. Louis Haken at Northside Pediatrics - I know it's not on the south side but it's a pretty quick shot up Kansas Expwy - we are in the SW area of Springfield. Dr. Haken is a great doctor and the NP, Eileen Llewellyn, is fabulous. She is very available and she is just very sweet and so wonderful with our children (we have three boys). She also takes LOTS of time with us which is always appreciated.
As far as an OB, my only experience in Springfield is with Dr. Shultz at Primrose OB/GYN (right next to Cox South) and it was not a particularly good one. He's very rough, didn't spend a lot of time me during any appointment (I always felt rushed), and gave me false information about a type of birth control after the birth of our son. I later found out it was probably because he wouldn't have gotten reimbursed very much from my insurance and it wouldn't have been worth his time to do it. There are lots of other doctors in the practice but just so you know, they are ALL men. I also experienced VERY long waits in the waiting room for all of my appointments, frequently over an hour. I have a friend who sees Dr. McCorkle and loves him (he's at Primrose as well).
Hope this helps!
