Looking for Appropriate Hip Hop Music for 6 Yr Old Boy

Hi,
My 6 yr old son loves hip hop music and dance. I'd like to get him some new hip hop music, but am wanting to find music that has appropriate lyrics (no cussing, etc).
We have a cd called "Move It" by Disney that he really likes. I bought him a compilation cd at Target, but then found that one of the songs had some sexual references on it, so we don't use it.
Does anyone have some suggestions for some good, clean, fun hip hop music? It doesn't need to be childish sounding. I just want appropriate lyrics.
Thanks!!
M.

Disney also has a lot of CD's under the Disney Mania name. It is upbeat, uptempo, danceable, remakes of classic Disney tunes plus some newer songs. I think there are 7 of them now. The Disney Mania Christmas CD has a lot of rockin Christmas tunes. Kidz Bop also does more kid friendly remakes.

The naked brother's band has very clean CD's, also the soundtrack from Jump in, also kidz bop--I buy my grandson's music from the iTunes store--they are always cheaper than the stores and you can burn them onto CDs. Individual songs are $.99. You can buy $60 worth of iTune's cards at Costco for about $53. Once downloaded you can listen to the music for yourself and only copy those songs you think are appropriate for him to listen to.

Hey,

Maybe you can look into Christian Hip Hop artists, like Lacrae. I know the ones that are in this category are clean, and the music is fun and upbeat.

Thanks,
Brandi

Well I shop online at BMG music for my cds. They have different catagories to choose from. I only play christian music when my 4 year old daughter is in the car. So you can choose christian hip hop. Or if you shop at walmart they are the ones who censor the cds they sell.

Trying going to this link:
http://home.disney.go.com/music/

Maybe there will be something there that is appropriate for the 6 year old age range..it is the Disney website.

My daughter is the same age as your son, and she takes hip-hop dance classes at our local YMCA. Maybe your son would enjoy that too?

It's hard to find "music" for this age, which does NOT contain references to sex/kissing/dating/violence/cuss words etc. because the music is created by the pre-teen/teen/adult majority. But I"m sure there must be some for the young children... I know, try going to http://www.noggin.com/search.php?searchterm=music and they might have music too for this age.

All the best,
Susan

Look into Christian music - there are quite a few young groups out there with good music and a good message.

Radio Disney is an AM station in most urban areas, and they also broadcast online. They edit things like the Black Eyed Peas but they also have a lot of tween groups that sing hip hop. My kids love it and I like to know that I can leave the radio on and their ears are safe!

Look into Kid Bop. My daughter's hip hop dance class used music from one of their cd's for a dance they were learning. Her dance class is learning a new hip hop dance now and they're using music from Choo Choo Soul. I originally saw them on Disney and all my kids ( ages 2- 5 1/2) like them.

My husband is a music lover so I asked him about the music and he said to take a listen to the Album called "Class of 3000" by Andre 3000. It used to be a cartoon and it's the soundtrack to it.

Hope this helps!!!!
