Looking for Affordable and Quality Childcare in New York
Can any one point me in the direction as to where are all of the affordable and good quality childcare services in New York? Or am I in a "perfect world" and need to come back to reality? Somebody help me.

I looked into it when I was pregnant with my son and still had not found anything that I was happy with by the time my son was 3 months old, so I just stayed home with him because my salary was not enough to justify paying that much. But I did a lot of research with this website: http://www.nyc.gov/html/doh/html/dc/daycarelist.shtml
It is really great. It lists all the day care centers and family day cares by borough. You can search by zip code too. You can also click on the name of a center and see the results of their latest health department reviews from the past year or so, which includes scores and give a description of any violations they have. This way you can find the safest place and then go visit and look into it. Also ask for recommendations from your pediatrician.

Hi K.,
My daughter has the Affinity Health Plan. It's awesome and affordable! Call 1.###-###-#### to get more info. One note though, if your son doesn't already have a SS number he will need it to sign up for the plan.

That depends on what you decide would be best for your child, a daycare full of other kids or a babysitter for closer attention. If you have time to interview many people you can try www.craigslist.com

K. go to the nyc.gov website and search through their daycare listing; fortunately for you, you can visit these sites unannouced and see how they operate for yourself.
Good Luck,
