Looking for a Tuxedo for 2 Year Old

My brother is getting married in August and my almost 2 year old son is in the wedding party. I need to get him a tuxedo to wear for the wedding. I don't want to spend an arm and leg to get him something. Does anyone have one they would be willing to sell to me or know of where I might find one? It looks like it is going to be expensive to rent one for the day for him.

Thanks,
K.

K.,

I got my 4 year old twins tuxes (eton suit) for my sister's August wedding from a web site called tuxgear.com. The suit came with everything but shoes and socks for about $40. I was a little nervous at first but when I got the suits in the mail I was quite pleased.

Believe it or not, we just got back from a wedding in Detroit this weekend where my 3 year old was the flower girl. In preparing for the wedding I searched everywhere for something appropriate for our 18 month old son to wear and could not find anything! It was impossible to find a toddler sized tux or suit, let alone a nice outfit other than the standard khakis and chckered shirt. I also searched everywhere for dressy shoes - totally impossible to find in any of the standard shoe stores at this time of the year, I guess. Stride Rite does carry the nice dressy shoes and I do like Stride Rite usually - but again, couldn't really justify the expense for shoes he wouldn't wear often. I did find some dressier type "Fall" shoes on clearance at Gymboree that could pass for dress shoes and still be worn this Fall. There is a kids clothing store in Geneva Commons in Geneva that sells really nice dressy outfits for little kids - but its very expensive and I couldn't justify the cost for something that he would wear one time. However, I did find a store at Stratford Square Mall in Bloomingdale which I would highly recommend. It is called something like "Wave Kids" - or something like that. Its a store for kids ages 0 to maybe 7 or 8 and its all dressy outfits. They have tuxes and little suits for boys starting at age 3 months. And the selection was excellent. The owner of the store was there when I went and she was very helpful and said that if I couldn't find the outfit I wanted in my son's size she could order it and have it delivered within a couple weeks. I bought a cute little beige "tux-style" outfit - pants, shirt, vest and little bow tie for only $36. They also had more traditional style tuxes with vest and jacket as well as just dressy suits (pants, shirt, jacket and tie). They also have dressy shoes that match.

Not sure where you live, but I'd recommend just going straight Wave Kids at Stratford Square Mall and avoiding the headache that I had searching before I found that store.

Good luck!

Hi K.,
My son was also just in a wedding and we bought him a suite (not a tux, but a black suite with a vest and all) at Von Maur at the St. Charles mall. It was $54.00 or $58.00 (can't remember exactly) and they do FREE alterations which was great. The ladies were very nice and it all went really well. You may need to get a different tie to match the wedding party, but the suite looked great!! Also, we have had pretty good luck finding nice looking black shoes at Payless. They don't cost an arm and a leg and they look great for no more than your son will wear them. Ours cost around $15.00.
Good luck,
N. B.

I googled toddler tuxedos, here one I found www.tuxedosonline.com
when I got married, the flower girls got their dresses at a little shop in the middle of the Orland Mall that also had little boys tuxs. I would also check out Sears, JC Penny, and Burlington.

I know the feeling. My 19 month old was in a wedding and we got his tux online through an ebay store and I remember it not being very expensive at all. I want to say $40 or less for it. We then got shoes on ebay as well for him for the wedding. Then we sold them all again on ebay. The ring bearers in my wedding got their tuxes through JCPenny, though that was 7 years ago, but it was twins and cheaper to buy 2 there than to rent even just one. Best wishes and have fun with it!! :)
