Ring Bearer Outfit

My 3 year old son is going to be the ring bearer in my cousin's wedding in Sept. She informed me today that the rental fee for his tuxedo will cost the same as the tuxedo rental for the adult men...$170!!!! I am grateful that she realizes this is much too expensive. She suggests getting my son dark gray slacks, a white shirt, and a tie or bow tie to match the bidesmaids dresses. I realize he will also need shoes. I'm not sure where to go to buy this type of outfit. Do you have any suggestions? I also wondered if stores that rent little boy tuxedos offer rental of just a portion of a suit and not the entire suit.
Thanks for any suggestions.

What can I do next?

I googled boys tuxedos and there are hundreds of places. Most are under $75. I have bought several suits for our little guy and have paid about $40 for each if they were new. I bought one at a garage sale for $5.

I think just about any clothing store should have boys slacks in the store. You could also look online. Be sure to plan ahead in case you need to have them hemmed or taken in.

My son was a ring bearer last month, and we bought his tuxedo on amazon and he looked JUST like all the groomsmen:

We found a little pair of oxfords' at Payless for $12.99. He's wearing the tux again in September for another wedding also. Good luck!

Here's a picture of my little guy in his $30 tuxedo:

Oh my heavens - what store is charging that much?!?

Maybe check a resale, consignment, or Once Upon a Child to find something at a reasonable cost because really, when will he be wearing this outfit again?

Yeah... that's pretty pricey. My son was ringbearer about 4 years ago for my brother and his wife. My son's tux rental (including shoes!) was less than that. I think it was around $100 or $110 maybe?

Yes check consignment or can you simply buy black pants, white shirt, black tie or bowtie?

When my son needed a tux at age 5, we bought one for $60 at a bridal store and then sold it later on eBay for almost as much. That made for a cheap "rental"! For shoes, we found nice-looking all-black sneakers at Payless. He looked adorable.

When I got married the tux rental place thru in one rental free so we gave that to our ring bearer, thought it was only fair. Maybe you could see if they would do the same. Otherwise you could start checking out Sears or somewhere like that out now because most communions and stuff are over by now and are most likely on clearance or should be soon, the only thing is if he grows over the summer. Maybe buy it one size up and have it altered just before. Weddings, gotta love them but hate them at the same time! My best friends costed me, and my 2 daughters about $450 in alterations alone :(

My brother rented our nephew a tux. It was the same price. Total waste of money, if you ask me. We found a cute shirt, vest, slacks, tie at a consignment shop for about $10!

Consignment shop! JC Penneys and Shopko also sell those outfits (shirt, vest, slacks, tie) for $50 or less. You'll find something!

My son had little suits, with ties, from the time he was a baby. I was able to find them most anywhere and they were very affordable. Just shop around locally, you might be surprised. I think the most I ever paid was $35. Check out a Payless Shoe Source. They have little boy dress shoes. They are very inexpensive but look nice. Your son likely won't wear them more than a couple of times before he outgrows them.
I'm sure you'll be able to find something. Check department stores in your area.
Take lots of pictures. I'm sure he'll look darling.

Best wishes.

Check out ebay. I bought alot of my wedding things there. I found my bridemaids dress for half the price of what the bridal stores wanted. Even after the alterations she still spent over $100.00 less then the store. Check it out what have you got to loose? You could also try amazon.com.
Good luck!

I would think that you could find the dress pants, shirt and tie at a store like Sears, Kohl's or JCPenny...not sure if you have those out there, if not I'm sure there's something similar. I would think you'd be able to find that stuff at a pretty reasonable price and he'll look really cute...no need to spend 170!
