Leaking Through Diaper Every Morning!

My 6 month old has been waking up the past week with a leaky diaper and soaked sheets. I put a bigger size on him when he goes to bed but that hasn't seemed to help. He also likes to sleep on his side and huddle in the corner of his crib which I think leads to him leaking out. Any advice on what I can do?

What can I do next?

You know what? For whatever reason, one of my kids fit better in Pampers and the other Huggies. Going up a size was a good first move, but I think now you just need to experiment.

We use Huggies overnite and they work great. Also I always put onsies on my twins to keep the diaper secure. We use babydry from pampers only during the day . They aren't strong enough for overnight.

I had the same problem with my first daughter. Only Pampers fit her properly and the leaks stopped. Try every brand and hopefully one will fit your son so that it doesn't leak. I've also seen these vinyl type covers that look like underwear. I think they're used for cloth diapers. You could put one over the disposable diaper at night. That way if it leaks it won't soak him or the sheets.

Use huggies "overnights". They come in a purple package. They work great!

Does he wear a one piece or two piece PJ? If he wears a two piece the pants can pull the diaper down and allow the urine to come straight out. Check that too and that isn't it try an overnight diaper.

I found my son went through a few of these night-time super soaker periods...not sure why although I was beginning to think he had secretly hid a gallon bottle of water in his crib.

I never bought the overnights, I just double diapered him with the top diaper sitting more over his tummy and this contained him..I found he would only go through this for a few days at a time.

I've also found when we are going out, like to watch a hockey game and he's going to be held a lot I start out with the double diaper method which seems to protect against leaks (we found that all the shifting and holding ended up causing leaks no matter what brand we used.)

Hi,
Try Walgreens Supreme Diapers (red package). My son used to wet threw every morning so I tried a few different diapers and finally Walgreens brand worked fantastic.
Thanks

Hi Rachel,

my son has this problem almost every morning. (the first thing my husband says after good morning is "did 'the boy' leak?")
We switched to huggies overnights for overnight only, thinking it was an absorbency problem... not so. he wakes up with half the diaper dry and still leaks. I am not new to diapers either, I have 4 kids! I tried to do the same as you, and put him in a bigger size, still leaks with half the diaper dry.

My guy also sleeps on his side, and his tummy (with his little butt in the air - so cute), which would explain why he always leaks out the top. here's what we have been doing, although it isn't foolproof as he still wakes up half the time with a leak... so it's not perfect.

We change his diaper before his bedtime bottle so he's 'skinnier', we fasten the tabs a bit lower on his waist... just above his hip bones, and we try to get it as tight as possible without being uncomfortable... and then we cross our fingers and hope for the best.

Maybe our boys are just power-wizzers... ??

Good luck, glad to know I'm not the only one doing pee soaked laundry twice a week :)

I just got rid of this problem. We eliminated my daughter's bedtime bottle. She gets her final bottle 1 hour before bedtime. She is 15 months and still awakes for a nighttime bottle. We limited this to 6oz instead of 8oz. She's in bed by 9pm and when we go to bed at 11:30pm, I change her diaper once more and again when she awakes for the late night bottle. Now when she awakes in the morning, she's not soaked and the sheets and blankets are dry! This was driving me crazy and I literally thought it was the Target diapers. We switched back to Huggies and she went through an entire box like Niagara Falls! That's when we discovered it was her and too much liquid during the night.

Hope this helps.

MY baby girl is having the same problem. I have tried a few things, but I think that I am going to go and get the plastic pants at babies r us and put them on her only at night time!

We've been using Pamper's Baby Dry at night, and our son has slept 12 hours without leaks. Might be worth a try?
