Hello fellow mothers. I just pulled out my daughters old baby clothing for my sister who is due with her 1st child in November. Most of the newborn clothing is covered in spit up stains. I have heard that old spit up stains come back over the years but I thought I would just ask if anyone has had any success getting these pesky stains out! Is it worth trying to get these stains out, or should they just become rags? It just breaks my heart to see all her little clothes ruined!

What can I do next?

Hi A.! Have you tried putting them out in the sun? Sometimes that works to get those stains out. Alas, I don't have any other suggestions. If you find a formula that works, patent it and you will be rich!
Good luck to you!

I soak them in super hot water (in the bathtub) with oxiclean. I swirl the clothes around periodically over 24 hours with a broom handle or whatever...then drain and do the same thing again for another 24 hours. It works. :)

I use spray and wash duel power. I pour some on and let it sit longer than it says. It works great on the white clothes. It will however take some of the color out of colored clothes if you leave it on too long. I put some on one of my husband's shirts and forgot to come back and toss it in the wash and by the next day I had made a worse stain. It did work wonders on some of those baby clothes I just wasn't ready to part with!

I suggest Shout Advance stain remover, works wonders on my granddaughters clothes. My best friend swears by dry cleaning. She had her daughters Baptisimal gown dry cleaned and all of the old (30 years old) spit up stains came out. Of course it is expensive to get things dry cleaned.....

Shout Advanced Gel - for set in stains. I spray it on the stain let it sit for 3-4 days (up to a week). I spray it again (letting it sit for 15 minutes) and throw it in the wash machine. It gets out a lot of set in stains, not everything but better than nothing.

Soak them in OxiClean overnight. That product has saved me a ton of money. Better yet use OxiClean Baby(or something like that), which I thought did a great job on spit up.

I've had pretty good luck soaking them in Oxiclean and hot water- usually I soak it for a week and then wash the clothes. I'm not sure if the stains come back after that, though- I've given our baby stuff away at this point.

I have a friend that had 3 boys - all with reflux. So all her baby clothes had this problem. She does the same thing as the previous poster and soaks in OxiClean. Some of the really tough ones might have to be done twice - but she swears that it works. Good Luck!
