Jr High Family Fun Night Ideas Needed
(((I posted this in Activities as well, sorry for the double post)))
I'm co-chairing our second Family Fun Night, at our junior high(5th-8th grades).
We need some ideas for different activities for the kids to chose from.
So far we have:
*karaoke
*pie throwing contest(7th grade teachers have volunteered to be the target)
*basketball free throw contest
*obstacle course
We had other things that didn't go over as well last year that we'd like to replace and add new stuff.
Any ideas?
Thanks so much in advance!!
C.

We had our preliminary meeting, just me and the other person chairing the event with me. Here's what else we came up----
*scrapbooking craft
*Are you Smarter Then A 5th Grader?
*Deal or No Deal(using donated items as random prizes)
*Bean Bag tournaments
I am going to bring up these other suggestions when I talk to Amy(co-chair), I think if we can get our hands on a Dance Revolution the girls would love that. Both Amy and I have 2 Guitar Heros, so that would be easy, I know our boys would *LOVE* that!
THANKS for these AWESOME ideas. Keep 'em coming!!! :)
THANK YOU-THANK YOU-THANK YOU!!!!!!

Very Simple, but good for the quieter kids, those that are more focused on fine-motor skills or those who need a calming activity.....
Bottle Pick-Up Game
Tie a string to a pole and put a plastic ring (like from a fabric store) at the end of the stick.
Then use the "fishing pole" to hook the ring to the end of a soda bottle and pull it upright.
Sounds easy, but takes patience to do.

Dance Dance Revolution is something our school did recently. I think you hook it up to a TV...ask the kids to see who has it.

Our school has done a annual turkey bowl. The kids love it. The also do pie a teacher, they used a WII with the wands last year, and one of those dance pads that go on the floor. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Hi C.!! How about dodgeball, hot potato, bobbing for apples, face painting contest or even something like a sock hop(get inside a large cloth bag in your socks and hop across to the finish line). Maybe a dance contest, hoola hoop contest or bingo? How bout a hacky sack contest(see who can keep it up the longest)? Hope this helps!

I second the Guitar Hero suggestion! That is a big winner. Also, DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) is popular, and can be scored for prizes.

C.-
DDR (dance dance revolution) set up with a tv would be a sure hit. Perhaps a sundae making station or a make your own...? Are you Smarter than a jr high student game? I teach 5th grade and these have worked well at our school. :) Good luck.

At my daughter's school, Guitar Hero and DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) were big hits. She has also gone to curch all-nighters where they had a rock climbing wall and volley ball tournaments.
