JFF Candy Corn--yes or No?

Time for the Friday brain drain!

Do you like candy corn? I'm not sure if i do or not. It's pretty in my candy jar, but I never want to eat it, because it always looks stale. Then I grab a small handful (tis the season), and for some reason I'm always surprised at how good it is. But after I eat it, I don't want any more for a while. But I buy it every year. And I hate the pumpkin-shaped candy corn.

You? :)

What can I do next?

Want to hate it, but I don't think it's humanly possible.

Recently I read that each Halloween, enough candy corn is sold to circle the moon 4 times!

Hi L.-

I agree it 'looks' pretty..but to me tastes like mildly flavored wax! lol

And the 'different' shaped ones (pumpkin shapes etc) seem to taste like even MORE MILDLY flavored wax..even worse than those wax 'lips' one used to be able to get...

I always CRAVE it as soon as I see it in the stores... then I buy it and eat a handful or two, and get grossed out.
My favorite is the indian corn, though.

Oh and I LOVE Boston Baked beans!!! So does my son!!

When I overindulge in just one handful too many of the candy corn (or pumpkins), I get a sugar headache. :(

No, never.

I'm in the minority-- I actually really don't care for sweets. Maybe, occasionally, a really good piece of chocolate. Otherwise, no thanks on the candy.

Once a year at Halloween. I buy it about 4-5 days before our pumpkin carving party and leave it out to get stale - the only way I eat it. Any left goes in the garbage right after the party.

Yes. I'm an addict if there is one. For whatever reason I enjoy it so much I eat too much at a time. Due to that I only allow myself to eat candy corn during October. I don't know why I like it so much. I'm a runner and eat healthy yet candy corn is what I enjoy or splurge on after a marathon for instance.
I'm with you. I'm not a fan of the pumpkins and can't stand the chocolate ones.
Candy corn can get stale. The stale ones are simply harder to chew and to me gummier. I found Brachs to be the best. I've tried the store brands and they are more likely to be stale. I haven't ventured into gourmet flavors.
Enjoy what you have. If you find, though, they are now stale use them as turkey feathers for a marshmallow body turkey. I've also just placed one candy corn on an iced cupcake and kids love it.

I eat them with m&m's
I eat them with Dr Pepper
I eat them plain.
I also eat Twizzlers and M&M's and on Valentines Day those little candy hearts, but only the Necco ones.

I can't even remember if I ever tried to eat it - it just looked so waxy/plasticky to me when I was a kid that it never appealed to me. Have had no desire to try it either - if I'm going to eat candy, I'll pick a nice quality chocolate, thank you :)

I really like it. But it coats my teeth and mouth with a kind of plastic feeling when I stop eating it. I think it's got to be pretty bad for the teeth. I've never really understood the practice of eating something and then running for the tooth brush. If I gotta do that, I'd rather skip the sweets. BUT, I don't skip sweets. Chocoloate is my drug of choice.

I totally agree with NBinMN! Have to mix it with salted peanuts. Being from MN too - I think that must be a MN thing. Lived in NY for years and you can't even buy salted nut roll there - so I don't think they know what they're missing.
Anyway, it cuts the sweet and is delicious!

It is a once or twice a year candy for me too. It has so much condensed sugar for it's size I think we get that too rich issue and don't want candy again for a long time. It is good in crafts and other things too. But as for buying it instead of chocolate? never gonna happen.

Use double stuff so the tip of the candy corn will fit in the white part between the cookies. Then you just use 2 of them, one for the base and one for the back. The tiny Reese cup, a malted milk ball, and you can break up the candy corn and make wings, feathers, a beak, etc...

I hate to eat it by itself - but a lady brought in some butterfinger candy made out of crushed leftover candy corn, and oh my goodness, that stuff was delicious!
You melt the candy corn, mix it with peanut butter, and put melted chocolate over it. It tastes EXACTLY like a butterfinger, only without that over stick to your teeth thing that a butterfinger does - google it for the exact quantities
