Jealosy Problems with Our Cat

I wish I had advice for you, but I don't. We experienced a very similar problem when my son was born and I ended up having to give my cat to a friend, which was a very hard and painful decision. Just know that it is not all that uncommon. I hope you find a solution. Good luck!

I feel your pain. I have just moved my boyfriend's cat into my home. She had a marking issue since she was so unhappy. We put her on Prozac which seemed to help when she would take it, but it's bitter and she got smart about it being in her tuna and her water. The vet says that they can make it in a liquid form that doesn't taste as bad. We decided to try another path.

I let her outside. This resolved a lot of her territorial issues. This probably isn't an option for you, but she has access to the laundry room. She was a little skiddish still until I found http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod_Display.cfm?pc... . This product really helped!!! These are odorless and don't effect my allergies at all!

First I want to start with I am a cat lover and owner.

I didn't have a problem with my cat -- mine just ran away from the baby -- but slowly got used to him.

But, I have a very close friend that had the same problem, one of her cats was like mine - eventually got used to the baby. The other well needless to say, it acted out alot and all the time. Her only solution was to find a new home for the cat. They ried everything -- but I think it just boils down to each animal has it's own personality - some adjust well to change others don't But, I do know that did try to give the cat medication prior to decide to give her away -- I think it was Valium from the vet -- it was in really small doses though. It's the same type of stuff they give a pet if they are traveling on an airplane to help keep them calm in a stressful situation.

I really hope things get better - no one likes to find a new home for their beloved pet.

Don't worry, it's not a weird question. I have heard of animals having jeoulosy issues when they're used to being the only ones, then along comes these little kids that steal all of their attention. I'm not quite sure what you should do (I know, that's not what you want to hear), but there is hospital here in Mckinney that only services cats. They may be a good source.
