I was wondering if anyone has a "tablet" other than the ipad?? The ipad is soooo expensive!! I would like to get one for my daughters to share. I see walmart advertising a tablet for $199. Are they the same? Any feedback would be great!!! Girls are 9 and 11. It would be for entertainment only!!

You can also buy, read, and store books on your iPad, or even your Iphone. I honestly would not get an ereader like the nook at this point because they are slow when you use them for things like internet. I love my iPad. You can sometimes find deal on line.
For me one of the biggest bonuses of the ipad is that it communicates with my iPhone and my computer, but you have to have all apple products for that to work.
Check out Toys r Us. They just announced a release for children's tablet for $150. It will come with lots of game apps.
I am in the same boat as you...My 10 year old wants a tablet too. I would really like her to get the Ipad but it's too much $$. Plus shehas the Ipod Touch. The Kindle Fire is now $159 and the Kindle Fire HD is going to be $199. I was going to wait until Apple came out with their announcement for their mini ipad rumors are it's going to be $299. We also looked into the Samsung Galaxy since a friend of mine said her Daughter liked it that was $250 and it has a camera but now the Kindle Fire HD has a camera so I think I am leaning toward that one. Get them a Fire, or a Nexius.
I love my Kindle Fire! It is so much more affordable than the iPad.

I have both the i pad and a tablet and i actually like the tablet better because the controls and basic use of it is simpler for me. Perfect for your daughters ages. The tablet runs on the android market which i think has alot more games and kids applications you can download to your tablet. I hope this was a little bit of a help for you.
