Have I asked enough questions today? I wouldn't survive without you ladies ;)

I have had SEVERE sinus pressure pains on the left side of my face; right around my orbit (eye socket) and on the left side of my nose by the bridge; that's sinus, right? I've tried sinus meds and warm compresses and nothing's helping... every time I move my head it's PAIN PAIN PAIN. I'm over it. It's been about 4 days. I'm not coughing, I'm not stuffy, I can breathe fine, it doesn't feel like my ear is clogged or there's anything in the back of my throat.... WHAT IS THIS?! How can I make it stop?! It's becoming unbearable...

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

@Amber, yes, one of my upper molars on that side hurts, but it usually does whenever I'm sinus-y. Man, I don't want to be sick!!

@Sue, I get migraines, it's not that... what's a cluster headache? It's not in my HEAD, but my FACE?

can I flip this one? If you're not stuffy, ears are clear, throat's clear....have you considered that this might be a cluster or migraine headache?

Just a thought.....

I just had this too, and I couldn't take it anymore, so I went to the dr. and I had a sinus infection. I had to be on a Z pack. It seemed to get worse before it got better though. But, I feel great now!

you say sinus meds, maybe try a differant medication. Some dry you up and some expel it. I would switch to which ever one you aren't doing.
And if you can get your hands on some antibiotics, that would surely help. Have you ever tried a netti pot? that might help.

When you say you've taken sinus medicine, have you tried real sudafed (pseudoephedrine hcl)? Not that useless stuff that you can get in the aisle the stuff that you actually need to hand over your license for? I get what you're describing several times a year. A dose of real sudafed and 4 ibuprofen (800 mg total) repeated every 4-6 hours for 12-24 hours does the trick for me. On real sufaded I can literally feel the congestion in my face breaking up and it starts draining out my nose and throat. If that doesn't work, see your doc you may have a sinus infection.

It sounds to me like a sinus infection. If it is, nothing but a good course of antibiotics will help.

When I get sinus infections, it makes my teeth hurt and it feels like I got punched in the eye. It hurts to just touch my face.
When I get that feeling, I know what it is.
It's been 4 days. You should see a doctor.

Hope you feel better soon.

I had the same thing last week. It hurts, its moved to my chest now. Im coughing, the coughing is way better than the sinus pain though.

I took some left over pain meds from surgery. Probably not the wisest thing, but I felt better.

I'm sorry you are feeling bad! Have you tried some ibuprofen? It could be inflamation and not congestion. IB helps with swelling in there.
Also, for a little momentary relief, there is a pressure point kind of between your eyebrows and up a tiny bit. If you press on that for a few seconds it will relieve the pressure, but then when you let go it comes back. (I know, not so helpful.)
Feel better dear and if this continues maybe call your doc and see if there is anything they can offer to help.

I agree with Theresa - get the real Sudafed behind the counter at the pharmacy. It works wonders.

You might have a nose pollup - do you have swelling? Does it hurt to touch your nose?

Go see an ENT - they are the best.

And three Advils or Motrin IB will help with pain and inflamation.

Feel better!!!

ouch!! buy the Neil Med sinus rinse and try that...you may have done too much - so your body doesn't know which way to go.

try an allergy med after your other meds have "worn" off...so that you don't have too much in your system....then try the allergy meds to see if you are having an allergic reaction to something...as you know - pain is our body's way of saying something is wrong...

I'm thinking of you honey!!! hope you are better soon!

Did you get REAL Pseudafed Rach? The kind you have to ask for at the pharmacy desk? Only thing that works for me, I take 3 of them. Pressure is gone and doesn't come back.

Feel better.

If it's an infection, all the "real" sudafed, sad movies, acupressure and neti pots in the world will do no good at all. See a doctor, ASAP. If you let it go and try to treat yourself it will get worse and maybe could spread. If the pressure's so severe, help yourself and let a professional diagnose you and give you what will actually work. Good luck and feel better soon!

I use hand reflexology. Temporarily you can apply pressure to the part of your left hand between your thumb and pointer finger. Use your thumb and pointer on your right hand to firmly grip the area (you'll feel the tendons) on your left hand. Hold it for a few seconds and you'll gradually feel the pressure release.

I also recommend the netti pot. It did wonders for me. I had to use it several times a day for the first few days though.

I have chronic sinus problems and actually found out at the dentist the other day that my sinuses dip really low down on either side of my cheeks - hence when I have sinus pressure, my teeth and jaw hurt. I'm guessing that's what this is - sinus pressure. I am hardly ever snot-congested with sinus infections, it's just inflammation/swelling. It SUCKS! I say call the doc, sounds like you need some antibiotics! Good luck! (you could also try the Neti Pot, but if you have an existing infection that could make it worse.)

Sounds like it could be a sinus infection. Not sure that'll improve anytime soon w/o antibiotics.

It sounds like a sinus infection to me.
There's a lot more space in our heads than we think.
http://www.webmd.com/allergies/picture-of-the-sinuses
I've had this before and OTC sinus meds in general just don't work.
An expectorant to thin mucus sometimes helps (try Robitussin or Mucinex).
Keep well hydrated and use a humidifier at night.
Get a neti pot and rinse out your nose with slightly warm saline (1 tsp salt to 2 cups water).
If mucus is the problem add a little baking soda to the saline.
If it's swollen sinuses add just a tiny drop of vinegar to the saline.
You can rinse as often as you like.
A heating pad on your face can help ease the pain a bit.
I also like taking a shower as hot as I can stand it and having the water spray right on my face.
I'm not sure seeing a doctor before a fever develops will help much.
But if it keeps up for much longer you'll need to go in so they can test you for strep - it can make your sinuses miserable.
I hope you feel better soon!

Go to a doctor. It could be a sinus infection or it could be a tooth infection. But paired up with clavicle pain, I'm not so sure it's a coincidence. So go to your PCP and get checked out.

Have you tried spicy food or a sappy movie? Get things running and draining that way, maybe it will help relieve some pressure. Get some crying going and nose running. (When I cry my nose goes off.)

Might I recommend Eight Below? I will never watch it again, but if you're a dog lover, guaranteed to make you cry like a wee babe. And if you like sushi, put extra wasabi in your soy sauce and go to town. The candied ginger won't hurt anything too.

Good luck to you.
