I Am in Need of a Shoe Organizer Format for My Boxed Shoes.

I have tons of shoes that I store in shoe boxes. Some are in their original boxes but not all. I would like a format that I can print out and maybe tape to the edge of the box so I can know exactly what shoe is inside without taking a whole stack down. I have organized them by color and by style (open or closed) but it's not enough. HELP**!

I have at the end of my boxes, something that reminds me what shoe they are. Etc. "Brown boots", "Gold/Karleigh's wedding" (a shoe I wore to a friends wedding), "Pink strapless Ann Taylor". I know exactly what shoe they are without opening the boxes.

Take a digital pic of each pair of shoes, & print out a small copy to glue to the side of each shoe box. Then, you know exactly what's in each box.

Hi. You might want to check on HSN.com or QVC.com - I know it seems hoaky but I have found some really great items there for organization. They also have video that you can watch to see the items demonstrated. I usually do a search on their website like "shoe organizer" or "closet organizer". Sometimes, I find something there and then check to see if a local store carries the items so that I don't have to pay the extra shipping and handling.

Good luck! K..

Hi C.,

Take a photo of each pair of shoes and tape them to the front of the boxes - that way you'll know exactly what's inside!

4x6 digital prints are pretty inexpensive (I think they're 9 cents at Walmart). Even if you have to buy a disposable film camera and get the photos developed, it'll be well worth it to save you a lot of headache in the future.

Make sure you zoom in (or move in closer) and take the photos such that the shoes take up most of the picture. You'll want the shoes to be as visible as possible so you can still see the photo on the box at the very top of the stack.

Good luck with the organization!

I use photographs with the brand and year written on the photo. :)

greetings C.: I am a former "Home Organizer" so I can help by telling you what I did with one client.
1. took piture of each pair of shoes.
2. I then numbered the box & on a 3x5 card wrote information about shoes example---
what they go with, when purchased, comfort, condition.
3. I then used the same type of box for each pair so they fit better on shelves and taped the information on the end or side of box.
** if shoes were in bad repair and were not going to be fixed we got rid of them as they were not being used - now there is space to replace them.
4. I made a 3x5 card file box holing the same information so that all we had to do was pull the number and could readily find out everything we needed. The same was done for all the boots.
Hope this helps, Nana G.

I've seen several TV shoes where they recommend putting a photo of the shoe on the end of the box. That way you know at a glance which shoe is where.

I always see the tip to take a picture of the shoes (easier in the time of polaroid but not too bad with digital) and tape that on the outside.

Take a photo of the shoes in the box and tape it to the outside. A friend of mine did that ant it seemed to make sense to me. Good luck.
