Works best with 3/8 in grosgrain but you can use other types of ribbon. Wrap the ribbon tightly around a wooden dowel with the edges of the ribbon not touching. I bake at 225 for about 20 minutes.

Hi B.. If your wanting a thin, maybe multicolored bow, about what you would see on a gift, just pick up the thin ribbon at any party store or gift wrap section at Wal-mart.The kind of crinkled type, cut a length, remembering it will shortened when curled, for multiple colors cut each the same length, tie all in a knot in the middle. With the blade of scissors lane flat against the ribbon close to the knot, pull scissors lightly down ribbon for a curling effect, may be done a couple of times for desired curl, don't overdo or use alot of pressure. Each ribbon piece needs done individually. Can spray very lightly with hair spray for better- lasting hold. This will also work on wider ribbon, but some softer fabric ribbon may not take. Hopes this works for you. You can make bows for all those colorful gifts too. R. C

Hi, for a service projest at church last year we made doll hair using regular yarn wrapped around a wooden dowels and baked for 30 minutes then cooled. When we took it off the wooden dowel it was long curls. If you do this make sure the yarn goes on very closely together. If you overlap it the part not touching the dowel won't be curly. Yarn is inexpensive and easy to match to clothes so I hope this helps.

I know you use the grosgrain ribbon and you can wrap it around knitting needles, but i'm not sure how long.

Hi, Google "corker bows". You need to use grosgrain ribbon and a diluted fabric stiffener. Wrap the ribbon around a wooden dowel and bake. Sorry, I forgot for how long or at what temp. they turned out really cute when i did it.
